I wanted to enable self shadows and grass shadows but nothing happens when I change the values

please need help :/

Which ini are you changing? Please be aware that numerous people change the wrong one.

Also can't the shadows thing be changed from the Fallout 3 launcher under Options?

Make sure you change the one in "My Documents\My Game\Fallout 3"

I was changing the one in the Bethesda folder forever before I figured that out.

If its not that, then I dont know whats wrong.

I tried to change both.

Where can I activate self shadowing with the launcher? Adavance options only gives me shadow quality and shadow filter.

Another question why the console commands for these display thing not work or have I type somthing before it like the setgamesetting-thing?

edit: ok I changed the ini setting inside the game with setini but nothing happens .... oh man why o.O

Don't change both! Only change the ini as described by fusion_kb.

I'm not certain but I think you're looking for bActorSelfShadowing=0 (mine is 0 as I have turned it off).

em ok but whats wrong with editng both? none of the changes that I made in the ini files work and console commands don't work too

OK let's start from scratch and see if we can get to the bottom of this :)

1.Can you post the path to the ini file that you're changing (where it is).

2.What are you changing in the ini?

3.What are you entering into the console?

4. Are you using Vista?

Hmm I'm not sure whats going on.

Make sure shadows have been enabled on the Options part of the launcher.

Does iActorShadowcountIn and iActorShadowcountExt change anything?
