Winter Wasteland

 

Oh no...Nuclear Winter has proved true, and, to boot, by the massive exchange, has been magnified! Now, instead of just radiation, critters, and evil people to deal with, the global climate has been so fragged up by the Nuclear Exchange during the Great War, that most of the US has been plunged into perma-freeze. Get some warm clothes, kiddies, 'cause it's about to get cooooold in The Capitol Wasteland.

 

What to Look for in this upcoming mod from Sarge Washington and Insanity Productions:

1. Increased factors into life (climate (it gets cold, you better get the hell inside, otherwise you ain’ gonna last long)

2. Your enemies have learned how to use this to their advantage (at least, the human ones). Meaning? The Enclave now operates with winter camouflage patterns. But, have no fear, your Brothers Of Steel have their own! The Super-Mutants…Think they need cover? Think again. Their mutations have turned them, effectively, into walking reactors. They fight harder, faster, and stronger in the cold….Face it. You are in deep crap, Vault Dweller.

 

3. Think it’s going to kill off your nasty friends? Think again! Most have had 200 years to adapt. You? Have 45 minutes from when you first step out of the Vault’s Cave.

 

4. Your Pip-Boy 3000A has one advantage over the older models. It was made for a scenario like (emphasis on LIKE) this one. Where some just completely freeze up, this one actually works better, to a point, in a cold environment. Unfortunately, frost has permeated the screen, rendering it semi-useless.

 

5. Your Vault Suit provides about 15 minutes maximum temperature protection. Your normal body? 45. All in all, you have ONE HOUR to find some sort of shelter before continuing with your quest.

 

6. Clothes to save your frozen arse. Think that Raider armor is useful? Think again! What it doesn’t cover, counts towards your chances of freezing to death. (Maybe you want to rethink going with that Shady Hat as opposed to the Brotherhood Power Helmet)…

Uhhh…Doctor Li? What does it mean when the water in the tank goes white and solid?

Hell. On the BRIGHT side, the tank pressure is normalizing.

And the Dark?

It’s too goddamn cold for the thing to start. We need to find a way to up the temperature, even if just inside the tank.

Well….My suit has a temperature regulator?

You wanna freeze to death, kid?

It wasn’t really on my to-do list, but it’s something to try!

Anyone have any ideas, help to add texturing, etc? (I Call working on the Pip-Boy!)

Shopping List List:

 

M45A Commando Pulse Carbine (WIP): Created by Enfield, in coordination with Heckler & Koch, under the working name of "FireScout Industries", this is the ultimate commando weapon, firing .45 Caliber (11.43 x 56mm) bullets in a "Pulse" of 3 Rounds per Second, Two Seconds Per Pulse, with a magazine capacity of 30 rounds.

 

 

 

Problems: more complex model showing up as the I of death. Less complex model crashes game if textured...

 

Any assistance would be...just freaking amazing.

I took a look at your model. One of them is quite high-poly you should consider optimizing it. The other one is in a million pieces you should collapse them together into fewer pieces. I was wondering if they are textured? The one in tonnes of little bits looks good but I think it is missing most of it's texturing properties, the textures that it points to are in .tga format and not the proper .dds format. Other than the disastourous nif file the model looks very good (the shoulder rest of the weapon looks a bit low poly but the rest is awesome.

I don't like the nuclear winter idea very much, but it gave me another idea regarding temperature: a mod that simulates hot temperature in the day, cold at night. You'd have to make a campfire, change your clothing etc.

I agree with mazakala. Although the permafrost idea seems pretty awesome, i just can't put it together with the F3 world and story as it is. Day and night hot/cold temperature changes would work and would be really awesome though.

 

And armor with camo is a great idea, it's a basic survival tactic and would improve immersion.

Hey thanks for the suggestions...Ill hafta wait till the GECK to do much, but I am getting some ideas. With the Temp-DAY\NIGHT, anyone care to tell if they gotta idea on just how bad the temperature variation would be after a NUCWAR?

 

 

And as far as the weapons, for now refer to the first pulse rifle (the one-piece (with the molded grip) as Pulse1 and the otehr as Pulse2...

 

All in all, if someone could help me, which would y'all like to see more, pulse1 or pulse2?
