Default Texture Persists on Custom Weapon

On the custom shield model and texture that I imported there's an emblem that was on the original weapon that seems to exist independently from it, since it conforms to the original model still even after replacing it (it floats above the model I imported and you cant see it from certain angles)

 

Neither of the MRL3 files (for the sword and shield respectively) reference textures other than my own so I'm unsure what causes this. I figured it's probably a default weapon part texture like the monster material parts, but I still dont know how I would go about fixing that. Anyone have any advice?
