LE Well Made Playable Non-Playable Races

This request contains some spoilers related to Dawnguard, don't read if you don't want to spoil yourself.

 

What I request is playable Dremora and Snow Elf.

Before you start spamming links, read further.

 

As said, there is already playable Dremora and Snow Elf, but those mods are buggy.

I mean, there's already made-from-a-scratch playable races, but why nobody has put effort on fixing Snow Elf?

Vanilla Snow Elf doesn't have Resistance to frost, Sliders will mess up the skin color and so, and the race is called "High Elf" in description :facepalm:

I know Bethesda didn't plan to make this race playable, but they could have still made some things to make the race work better.

 

Also, even if one of the Snow Elves is vampire, there is no actual vampire version of Snow Elf :facepalm:

I am not quite sure how NPC's handle vampirism, but well, just weird.

 

I am not hoping that NPC's will "recognize" me as either Dremora or Snow Elf, people could just refer to them both as "Elf" (As they do to every other elf in-game already.)

There's couple of dialogs which might be hard to change, but I don't mind if they'd be more or less weird. (*Spoiler on Dark Brotherhood questline, The part where you disguise as The Cook, and the part where Ulfric refers to you as your own race. *Why would Race X want to join Stormcloaks* )

Even if it would seem weird that the Snow Elves added by Dawnguard won't recognize you, still, I just wish to play as Snow Elf, and know I can turn into vampire if I want and change my facial structure. :biggrin:

 

I'll list here things I'd hope to see:

- Playable Dremora and Snow Elf

- Working Vampirism and lycantrophy for both

- Male and Female versions of both.

- (Optional patches for armors added by mods, could be made by the authors of the armor mods)

- Lore-wise stats, no godlike powers, even if Dremora is Daedra.

- Working sliders? Different skin colors?

- Better textures for Snow Elf skin? (Optional)

- Custom Hairs for both and Horns for Dremora (Optional)

 

I don't want to suggest anything for the stats unless you want some ideas, I only hope that you'd keep them balanced when compared to other races.

Snow Elves could have huge resistance for ice, but minor weakness to fire.

 

I hope someone skilled with Creation Kit would start to work on these, or at least one of them.

Maybe, but for some reason I see it very fitting.

 

Dremora who has broken the bounds of being conjured should be able to contract vampirism as well :biggrin:

Here a step by step tutorial on how to create custom race with vampire and werewolf support. It also covers quest fixes for when the races is needed and an easy way to make all armors wearable. The only things needed are the CK, the ability to read and a little patience.

 

What the tutorial does not offer is guidance on how to change apperance and abilities, but I'm sure google will find an apt choice of tutorials for you.

Well, that's another thing I wanted to achieve by this thread, good tutorial :biggrin:

I remember I've seen that one earlier, I might start working on this myself, maybe even upload it to nexus once it's done.

 

As for the skin problem.. I guess I'll reverse engineer another race to figure out how to fix it, probably not too hard, might be just that nobody didn't care for fixing it.
