Xynion
Hey guys, I've got a little issue. Everytime I've chosen new texture-files for a .nif-file by using NifSkope (like a book: cover and cover_n) the G.E.C.K refuses to add the "new" .nif-file (model is the same) on an existing object (with new ID) and crashes. As I wanted to add new magzine skins for my mod, that's not so good.. didn't find anything about that here. Has anyone a kind of solution for this? I presume that I did something wrong with the mesh, but I cannot imagine what as I just change the textures (too stupid for Blender). Thanks in advance. :)
nivea
Are the textures perhaps not saved in the correct format?
rickerhk
Once you get the texture in the right format, you can use a texture set instead of messing with Nifscope. Unless it's furniture -> CTD
Xynion
The textures are saved as .dds-files. Mh, books don't belong to furniture, do they? Only found texture-sets for weapons and armor.
rickerhk
Probably DXT1 dds files are being used for vanilla. When you open up the book in the geck, where it say's 'model'. Open that and double click under the blank space in the 'new texture' column, then select your texture set.No, books aren't in the furniture category. That was just a heads up that texture sets on furniture causes CTD in game.
Xynion
Okay, I'll try it out tomorrow. Thank you, rickerhk!
Xynion
Tried it out. I created a new texture pack and used DXT1-.dds-files for this. When I applied the texture-pack as you told me, the object turned grey and changed the texture whenever the point of look changed. Thus it was grey, green, red... dunno what I'm doing wrong.
