Strip Club Mod: Help Wanted

Ok, for all of you who may not remember me, I was working on a custom Strip Club Mod a while back. It started with Fallout 3 and then was moved to New Vegas because I felt like it belonged more in New Vegas. Basically, the project was re-built numerous times because I never completely felt happy with it. When I finally did find a build that I was happy with, I discovered that some things were just not possible. I had a lot of difficulty getting the AI to update along with other things. One major issue I ran into was getting the npc to change outfits to appear to remove clothing items. For some reason, during the animation, it just wouldn't update until the animation was done. After so many frustrations, I joined the ASX project for Skyrim. I was placed in charge of developing a working brothel. Basically, I constructed the level, made all of the custom npc's, wrote all of the dialogue and story, voiced some of the dialogue, navmeshed the level, scripted all of the npc's and cleaned up all of the voice files from the other voice actors/actresses and implemented them into the project. Basically, the project was 90% done by Summer's end but RoC, the project lead, went strangely afk so we are unable to release the project until he can put the final touches on it.

I've decided to return to Fallout in the mean time in an attempt to finish my old mod. However, rather than going all out and developing a huge, custom built strip club, I've decided to narrow it down to a small but very cool little project. This way, I have less bug hunting to do and can get something that looks nice and professional out. Basically, I'm going to convert the Atomic Wrangler into a strip club. I did this in a previous build that I made and I've always been very partial to this design for some reason. It just feels right somehow. If it is popular enough, I may try to give the Gommorah a makeover as well in the end. The scripts just need to be re-written (I already have working scripts), some basic dialogue needs to be done for the dancers, and almost all of the custom meshes that are necessary are done. I've also already modified the Atomic Wrangler and it is ready to go.

Basically, I would like to finish this up around the holidays before the new year. I do have college finals so I WILL be very busy beforehand but I will work on it when I can.

What I would like is some help with some of the extras:

****************************************************************

Texture artists to help texture a new dancer outfit.

Female voice actresses to voice the dancers/hookers.

Pin-up artists to design posters/wall art for the place.

Here is a screenshot:

I'll check it out. This isn't an explicit mod however. :P Although it does contain some nudity and references through language... basically the same thing you would hear if you hired one of the normal prostitutes lol.

However, I have completed the dialogue and put some finishing touches on the Atomic Wrangler today. Had to re-port a custom model to replace portions of the bar area to make it look much nicer. It's aimed to be a bit more tasteful than most adult mods. :)

Good luck on it, not really my scene since its all female stuff (and I prefer my strippers to be male lol). But FNV does lack strip clubs, which is odd since its you know...Vegas. lol

Gotta admit; this project sounds quite decent. Makes you realise how dinghy and 'rapey'(a term me and my mates use) the vanilla AW does actually look.

It always bothered me that NV never really had a 'club' per se; just what usually amounted to a stage in the middle of a hall somewhere... Which is actually seedier than an actual club IMO.

Being honest I'd actually like to see you work your magic on Gomorrah too, that place just never felt quite right; plus it's layout was pretty shocking (Gothic statues in a strip club, wtf???).

This was just going to be a straight up redesign of the atomic wrangler I assume? ... I've seen too many mods which try to refurb an area then go ahead and start adding extra stuff to vanilla resources which don't really work; would be nice just to have the place reworked; and nothing else.

It's hard to explain. I was really looking forward to the Gommorah and AW when I bought NV, because they said that it would include strippers/prostitutes. I thought, hey Bethesda is finally getting up the nerve to get into the sleazy/grime of a NV. A world that should look rich and sexy, but have that greedy/oversexualized feel to it. When I walked into Freeside, all I could see was another broken down/destroyed city and the same went for the strip. Nothing looked exciting or tantalizing. There was no "tease" to the city to get the player to want to spend money. The hookers had a more gothic/transvestite (no offense meant) look about them. Not to mention, the place feels vacant and absent for a city that was supposed to be untouched by the war. I also believe that a lack of color and lighting also removes from the atmosphere and makes a lot of the game feel very bland. Just because you are in a desert doesn't mean that you can't use creative lighting to make things appear stylistic and different.

As for replacing vanilla content.... I'm replacing SOME stuff.

Basically, this is what I have done:

I cleaned up the garbage and torn up walls as much as I could, replaced dead plants with cacti/desert trees. Added red curtains to the upper rooms and cleaned up those rooms. Added red lights up above to signify that it is an area of prostitution, and I added a lot of other lighting that you can find in most casinos to the game.

Then I replaced the stage with the Gommorah stage and added a working stripper pole for the dancers (it uses umpa's animation), and scripted some lights. All those lights you see in the picture are all currently on at the same time but they should only be on one at a time. I scripted them to also shut off when Hadrian is doing his show and another set of white stage lights will turn on for his show.

I also added tablecloths, and replaced the bar so that it has a bit more neon behind it, allowing the player to see the bar a little better. Then gave some characters some hats/ecs to make it look more like a cowboy strip club. :)

I'm also replacing the females with either type 6/Type 3 meshs, and dolling them bit and giving them some decent looking lingerie, as apposed to the weird torn-up goth outfits provided by default.

As for the Gommorah... I hate the look of that place with a passion... flames everywhere... gothic crap.... in a mob-owned strip club/casino? I agree, this place needs an overhaul... badly. If everyone likes this mod well enough and I can polish it up enough, I will add the Gommorah in a future update. :)

Nivea... I could add a male stripper... kinda planned on it to be honest. :)

The thing is... I wanted to make a full on custom strip-club originally and I had one built. But adding tons of new dialogue and that much AI content would take a LONG time to finish on my own and FO:NV is just too buggy in the first place. Then the problem would be that the other places would look too bleak in comparison. better to start simple and just refurbish the crap. :)

If my mod feels overdone... I can tone it down a bit and remove some things. I can use some of my meshes for Gommorah, since my original strip club was a very classy joint... and a crime syndicate should run a classy establishment... not some shabby outhouse with flames and gothic themes.

I could not agree with that first paragraph any more if I had've written it myself :P

For Gomorrah; I'd take inspiration from shows like Broadwalk Empire, I know it's set in the 20's not the 50's; but how much could the life of vice and excess (esp. when it's all Mafia run) have changed in that 30 year period?

Ditch the flames and gothic crap; bring in s*censored*y looking booths around the sides. Darken the whole place; colour wise and lighting wise.

I'd almost be tempted to have the Strip club and Casino on completely different floors, no sign of the other in the either section.

IMO the courtyard is fine; that could easily be left, that serves it purpose... Maybe a bit of additional lighting and sectioning off of the dancers in the corners (make it look like a private dance is taking place)

Just my two cents for if you went onto Gomorrah at a later date. I could easily wait for that though; esp if you actually did have plans to release your AW makeover.

Good luck with it though man, loving what I've seen/heard so far :D

Actually; if you wanted some more reference as to what I'm trying to get across for the general theme I'd go for the club in goodfellas

Exactly kind-of what I'm aiming for. Adding a new mafia family to the game could prove very problematic to be honest. I REALLY wanted to do that in my original design as apposed to the cowboy thing. However, adding a whole new family is problematic because we can't have Mr. House acknowledge another mafia family and we can't have the Omerta's acknowledge the other family. I would imagine that if there was another strip club on in NV run by another mob family, there would be a lot of contention between them. Things we just can't modify easily to make it look good. I did have a story but it was really complex and difficult to explain, and would require many difficult hours writing dialogue and scripted events for it. Hours that could be spent on the visuals/AI behavour.

I would leave the strip club WHERE it is, but I would certainly darken up the place. Same as I have done for the AW. Add mood-lighting rather than blare everything with as much lighting as possible. Something so many designers don't understand is that mood is important and shady places should look... well shady. :P I would probably remove the fire/statues/goth crap and add red neons surrounding the club on the inside. Something like the neons you see on the outside of the building. Then add posters, fancy tables with tablecloths... table lamps... working stage show lights. Scripted dancers. And I could easily add some booths around the Brimstone for lap dances to take place. The problem with moving it to another floor, is that I would have to modify it's content pretty heavily and it might actually damage some of the quests, ecs. For example, if NPC's are linked to certain objects, or if a quest tells an NPC to go to a specific location in a specific cell. A lot of the mob boss rooms are up there and there is a main quest related to them I think.

I've been re-thinking and I might add at least one male stripper for the ladies.

I'm also thinking about maybe one sex animation. I know, I said nothing explicit, however I've been re-thinking it. The AW has never made sense sound-wise. It is a small building really and you never see any actual hookers other than the ones you hire, yet you can hear sex all over the place in the background lol... So, if JoshNZ will let me use some of his animations... I might show something going on in one of the rooms from a distance but if the player walks too close, there will be a fade-out, fade-in effect where the customer npc tell the player to leave. That way it isn't completely seen. IE: think of The Darkness 2 brothel scene.
