Can't get past opening scene

The game will start just fine, but in the opening scene Ralof will only turn his head and stare at me, and when the wagon gets to the fortress the wheels keep spinning and nothing else will happen and I am unable to continue. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling (with deleting the Data folder), I have no mods or plugins running, and Bethesda support has not offered any solutions. My specs are:

Processor: Intel® Core i5-2320 CPU @ 3.00GHz (4 CPUs), ~3.0GHz

Memory: 8192MB RAM

Available OS Memory: 8172MB RAM

Card name: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 Ti

Display Memory: 4046 MB

Dedicated Memory: 1998 MB

Shared Memory: 2048 MB

Windows 7 OS

I am also having this problem, I searched online and there is a couple of common fixes... none of which has worked for me.

The first being that you change your default sound format in windows to 16 bit 44100Hz "volume control -> playback devices -> speaker properties -> advanced"

The second being that you turn on FXAA in the advanced options for Skyrim

The last that I know of was to turn all options to medium.

As i said none of these have worked for me, but if anyone else has another suggestion besides reinstall game/drivers/windows I'll be happy to try it.
