Meddler and Modpatcher

Okay so issue is, whenever I use the modpatcher, my game crashes upon start up, as in not even getting to start the game at all.

The step I go through is

1) Downloaded Modpatcher and placed it in Binary/Win32, with all the files in the rar file (Tried redownloading it a few times to see if I had a corrupted download of it or something)

2) Downloaded the Xcom Meddler.

3) Made my changes to DefaultGameCore, saved it as a .mod file in the binary/win32 folder.

4) Running the modpatcher

5) Running the game from steam in offline mode

Am I missing something here? Cause when I do that, the game crashes, even if I'm not making a single change whatsoever to the DefaultGameCore and I run the modpatcher, it still wont work.

Ofcourse I have the latest version of the modpatcher and the Xcom meddler.

I would try the following steps:

  1. Delete XcomGame.exe, xcom-orginal.exe and XComGame.com (if available).
  2. Let Steam redownload the executable. Run the game to see, if it's working.
  3. Unpack Modpatcher (0.12) and DefaultGameCore.mod to Binaries/Win32.
  4. Try manually changing HP bonus of Kevlar armor. Edit DGC.mod - it's the first armors line:
    Armors=(ABILITIES[0]=eAbility_NONE,...,iType=eItem_ArmorKevlar,iHPBonus=10,...)
  5. Save, run patcher.bat, test the game.

I will try that out, currently trying to completely reinstall the game and see if it was some issue with the game that caused it, prior attempts I was just using steam "Verify game cache" whenever I had tried to change something and it didn't work, you know to reset things to point one, I will let you know how it goes when it's done installing.

Okay. I had to backup entire game directory after clean install, because our ADSL is very slow so going back from "it's crashing" situation is a breeze.

Oh well that is a shame.

Anyhow, seems a full reinstall of the game did the trick, so probably some corrupt gamefile.
