I can't get the game to work

I know this may not be the place to post this, but I've tried everything I found on the Internet and I can't get the game to work. It crashes as soon as it's loading a new game. My computer has a Quad Core CPU and Windows 7 64 bit. I know about its incompatibilities but I've seen many people who claims they've manage it. Tried everything from editing fallout.ini, installing as "run as admin", to compatibility modes. I even downloaded some Directx versions and the latest patch for the game. If anyone knows what I need to do, please tell me, as I'm desperate to play this game. By the way, I play Oblivion, which is (if I'm not wrong) older than Fallout 3. Thanks in advance.

I have been running FO3 on a Win7x64 system from the beginning - NO problems relating to the OS, NO compatibility mode needed.

1. Don't install to the default location - The UAC protection is paranoid. I install all games to C:\Games\game-name - and my steam is there also - C:\Games\Steam - all steam games work fine there

2. Running as the administrator is not the same thing as running a particular program with administrator privileges _ thanks for that confusion Microsoft. Check here for how to run a program with administrator privileges. http://s1.zetaboards.com/bbenlibrary/topic/4912979/1/

3. DO NOT add any mods or even patches until after you get the original copy of the game to run. Then get the official patches only from the original source - the Bethsoft website.

4.. If you have a stolen (pirate) version you are on your own - we cannot help and ban pirates here. We only support the legal version - pirated versions are not the same (no matter what the pirates say) and have their own strange problems.
