Does the Mod File Type determine how it should be added to the game?

So far I have only used the one Mod, skip the fade.

I was able to add it directly my games override file, and it worked perfectly.

But when I tried to add the No Helmet Hack mod the same way, it didn't work.

https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonage/mods/202?tab=files

- No_Helmet_Hack 1_5 Origins

- No_Helmet_Hack 1_5a Awakenings

Is it because the files weren't of the same type, that one works in the override folder, but the other did not?

Yep.

Since the Skip the Fade mod works, you must have installed the 'manual' version, which goes in the override. There's also a DAzip version of that same mod, which installs differently.

The No-Helmet hack is the second type of mod (DAzip installer).

(And there's also a third type of DAO mod - the .override package - which can only be installed with the DAO-ModManager utility.)

There are several ways to install DAzip mods: with the games native daupdater.exe utility (located in the bin_ship folder of the game install location), with the aforementioned DAO-ModManager, or with a similar manager-type utility called DAModder. I use DA-ModManager, as it is versatile and most reliably uninstalls mods, but it is a matter of user preference.

Took some trial and error on my part even with the instructions/guides, but I finally got it all to work. Thanks!
