peterkeller
Hi guys, I've been wanting to make a quest/armor mod in Skyrim. It started as an armor mod. but i didn't want it to be a simple crafted armor, i wanted the player to have to complete a quest for it. Simple, right? Wrong, apparently. See, I've been following a tutorial series on creating armor, and now i'm fairly fluent in it. I've turned uploaded one set to the nexus, but i wanted my next one to be special, so i thought up a storyline to go along with it. A few basic quest tutorials on YouTube later, and i had 3 quest stages all lined up in the CK. So, i set off to create one of the few dungeons the player would have to go through. Once the first dungeon was complete, i thought i'd take a crack at finishing up the quest. Up until this point, i was very unaware of scripts or their use in Skyrim. All i knew was that some mods like Deadly Dragons had some you needed in your data/scripts folder, and that SKSE let me extend vanilla scripts. Thats it. So then i learned in order to create a quest, i would have to become familiar, and even fluent in the scripting language of Papyrus. Not impossible. Bethesda made an entire game from Papyrus. Many modders have used it to create quests like Moonpath to Elswyr. So i'll just read up on the Creation Kit website and ill be good to go. But i didn't want to make "Bendu Olo's Only Hope", a simple quest of fetch and return. After about a week of scouring the forums, the web, and the Creation Kit wiki, I've made no real progress in my understanding of Papyrus or scripting. So, for any experienced modders out there, if you could help explain the basics of scripting and help me figure out how to create a quest that includes, - Advancing to a stage when an object in a custom cell is picked up,- Advancing quest stages after talking to an actor,- Creating markers related to quest objectives,- Once an actor is killed, the quest completes. I know not all of these are Script- related, but they're all topics im still new to. Thanks for your help in this issue,PK Edited November 27, 2012 by peterkeller
