flashpoint08
I'm looking for a tutorial to show me how to re-texture items, I know most of the basics but I'm getting stuck on the slightly more advanced stuff. Like I'm trying to add a camo pattern to the combat armor( i know it's been done several times ) so it's more than just a matter of changing the color. I use photoshop but I know enough to apply the steps to ps from another program. I'm hoping to add the multi-cam camo pattern to the combat armor, but I can't seem to find a way to keep the detail like shadows and highlights and threads of the cloth, etc. So any tips or directions to tutorials would be great. Thanks.

flashpoint08
thanks, those are wonderful tutorials and I will indeed be using those. However I'm stuck in photoshop trying to replace the green combat armor to multi-cam. I can't figure out how to add the multi cam pattern to the texture without losing all the details like the stitching, highlights and shadows. I wonder If I need to bring my texture into blender instead of photoshop?
jaysus
sadly youll loose these details or you go at cutting em out pixel by pixel... you dont need any 3d model prog for that... if beth would have included the high detail models it would be useful but thats not the case youll have to create new screws, stitches, whatever

asonofashadow
Uhh neither one of those links tell you anything about creating your 'own' textures say in photoshop ect....unless I missed it. The file you need to use to edit / create textures is at http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=31 . If we could get a tutorial on what the difference between 1stperson10mmpistol_n.dds and 1stperson10mmpistol.dds is, and ETC details specifically to textured that would be most excellent and appreciated. :thanks:
Demonizer
1stperson10mmpistol.dds = your diffuse map ie primary texture.1stperson10mmpistol_n.dds = your bump map or normal map texture etc etc...1stperson10mmpistol_n.dds "alpha channel" = your specular map, this basicly sets how shiney the texture is so if you have it all white its super shiny, black is obv non-shiny.
