ElfenLiedist
In the near future I will finally be upgrading my gaming pc to something a lot more robust than what im currently on, and my question is, what is the SAFEST way to move skyrim and all the mods that have been added to a different machine? After the move i won't be doing any back and forth for playing skyrim at least and I'm mildly aware of what could possibly go wrong if a file isnt moved or authenticated or whatever. I am playing skyrim through steam, and I believe steam will allow the moving of save files through downloading (I think?), but i have no clue what would be best for the mods or the NMM. I do know where skyrim is located in my steam directory, and where my saves are, and I can find where NMM is installed if needed. Thanks for any suggestions. RitualBlack
Copy the entire Skyrim folder and saves ( using a usb/external hard drive/whatever other method you can think of). After installing steam on your new machine just install Skyrim through your games library and let steam verify the files. I can't help to much with NMM because I manually install everything though the mod manager will detect all the mods you transfer after installing it. davycrockett
to do what you want the safest option would be to simply uninstall steam , this will leave all non vanilla non steam related folders and files in place as for finding the location of any program right click its start menu/shortcut link and select properties its path will be detailed for you and to correctly uninstall any program go to computer where its lists HDD's and optical drives etc on the tool bar at the top you will see a tab "uninstall or change a program" click it then select the program to remove or move easy huh and if the hard drive you currently have steam/skyrim installed to is a viable component for your new machine re-formating isn't always necessary especially if you want to keep your data and the drive is clean of malware etc just delete any unwanted stuff keeping your modded skyrim directory intact ,the rip it out and slap in method is likely to cause issues with registry entries . as for steam backup of saves i beleive thats an "op in" option its OFF by default so you need to do a little googling there best bet by far copy them along with .ini and a list of mods used by them to an external drive/CD DVD or whatever you have ,cos i wouldnt trust steam with a dead hamster let alone my precious save games . do it right first the time cos eventually that keyboard will leave a dent on your forehead !
