[LE] Custom Sword Problem

Recommended Posts

Ok, I was able to open the nif.zip file and checked it. Everything looks fine. I applied temp textures to it and tested in game, and it's still fine. So I assume the problem is in your textures (the rar file on the mod page is corrupted). If you could zip the textures I can look at those too.

that sounds like good news :-)

the problem is that even if i zipp only one texture file it ends up 600 kb or so and the upload limit here is 250 kb... I'll try to reupload the textures on the modpage...

(*mod got took down so that's no longer an option^^ gonna think of some other way...)

hope the dropbox link works...

Ok, so it is the textures with the problem. Easy fix.

- All of the texture files are missing mipmaps. Make sure when you save you select the option to create them.

- The diffuse texture and the _m texture have unnecessary alpha channels, resave them as DXT1 - no alpha.

- The normal map has an all white alpha channel. This should be your specular information, a black/white copy of your diffuse similar to the environment map texture to determine where and what strength you want your specular applied.

alright so i reexportet the diffuse and _m texture with mipmaps created and DXT1 this time. not sure what to do about the all white alpha channel on the normal map...

thanks for figuring that out...^^

update: I found the mistake (or another to be fair), i forgot to change a setting in the creation kit, now i got a working model with textures showing up both outside the inventory and equipped (even though it still is pretty ugly^^), thanks a lot for all the help

Hey, I'm using blender 2.8, I didn't have any experience with it so I just downloaded the latest version...

Did you happen to use a tutorial online to get this to work? Just curious :) Also, how did you get the model to be a nif file? When I save something in Blender 2.8, I save as as OBJ. How did you save/export it as a NIF? Thanks for any help!
