Alathe
I'm a new modder. By that I mean I have an idea which I think is awesome, and am currently trying to teach myself the modding tools. So I'm not really about to begin just yet, but I'm looking for some advice. The new mod I would like to create is, I think, pretty complex. Certain things I want to implement or have in my mod already exist, created by other modders. I'm aware of how this works, if I'm going to use someone else's mod I have to get their permission first. So, assuming I have done that, my question is as follows: How do I combine, say, 3 existing mods to form the base for my new mod? What is the easiest method. I'm talking about different types of mods, e.g.: A housing mod, a skill tree mod, and a horse mod. After creating such a base, I would have to make some tweaks and add some stuff. Then I'd address the issue of possibly making it an alternate start. But for now, any advice is quite appreciated. Another question occurs to me, If I cannot get permission, perhaps I could reverse-engineer a couple of mods that do some of the things I want (which may be a better option in some instances anyway), so how would I go about doing that? And do I need the original mod author's permission to do so?
Alathe
I started this and then life happened for a few months, but now I'm back. What I want to do is huge, quite possibly beyond my scope, but I still want to try. I also need to know how to create an alternate start.
