When I killed Divayth Fyr for the first time, got his armor, and talked to Caius. Caius yelled at me: WHAT?!! DIVAYUTH FYR IS DEAD ?!!!- and lots of other stuff, and he told me to get the hell out of his sight and never come back again..

Then I got really mad because I didn't save before I killed Divayth Fyr.

And I had to do a whole lot of other stuff before I could get to him. Do the corprus quest over again and so on..

How I killed him? I evaded him all the time - using levitate over the plant and shooting fireballs and hit-and-runs.. ez kill !

Except he's one of the strongest characters in the game.

He IS THE hardest NPC in the game. But as was said before, you may kill him unless you haven't done the telvanni quest "Coded Message"

i dont really think you know what you are talking about you can still become arch magister of telvani even if you dont deliver him the letter and he is NOT the most powerful npc. Alemexia (i think thats how you spell it) is the best npc. And if you mean without tribunal then Vivec is much more powerful than divath.

Vivec and Almalexia are not NPCs, they are creatures. That means that Divayth Fyr is the strongest NPC in the game.

EDIT: He is the strongest NPC in Morrowind only version, not including Tribunal and Bloodmoon. In Morrowind&Tribunal version the strongest NPCs are hands of Almalexia, as each one of them is much more powerful than Divayth. I don't know if someone in Bloodmoon is stronger than any of them.
