Steam question, but related to Skyrim.

"Converting existing game installation. This may take several minutes"~ Steam.

HAH, more like centuries.

What the heck is Steam trying to do?!? It keeps trying to "Convert existing game installation", even on things that I don't HAVE an existing installation on. Which might not be terrible... except that it doesn't do ANYTHING. All it does is sit there and ignore me, the little loading bar doesn't move at ALL, not even one tiny bit. It could very well not even be a loading bar at all for all I know. I've left it up for HOURS before and it didn't budge.

My steam sucks. I can't do anything with it now. No installations, no updates. Nothing. It always tries to "convert existing game installation" on anything I try to do (That would alter or add data in any way).

What is this? Is there anyway to disable it or otherwise tell it to fk off and stop ruining my games? If I didn't have SKSE I wouldn't be able to play Skyrim at all, since it doesn't let me go to the launcher. SKSE thankfully gives Steam the middle finger and skips straight to the game.

Thank you SKSE~<3

Anyone know what to do?

I'm a bit annoyed that Steam does this kind of crap. My biggest gripe recently is how it "cannot sync to the cloud" whenever I'm at college. or... "updating" "completing installation" or even the converting like you said. Their progress bars don't show any real progress at all and half the time I'm worried its frozen.

Let's not forget their lack of a real support system and care for their customers. Or a real offline mode... I'm getting real sick of your #$%! steam :armscrossed:

/rant ovar.

I dont think you can turn it off, it isnt listed as a specific feature and I believe they are updating steam files relating to the game rather than changing a file to the game itself. Normal game updates change game files and you dont see that message so...

Eh...

Thanks.

I guess I'll never get to access the Skyrim Launcher x,..,x My graphics are forever frozen on Low/Mid settings... That was when I noticed this problem. I installed an excellent performance mod that would have let me run on a higher setting, I wanted to test that.

No matter. When I grow tired of Skyrim again I'll just uninstall everything, and reinstall steam. See if that fixes it.
