RealitySpectre
i know that your all thinking that it must be a normal map.... but get this. when a user of my mod enters the cellar area of my mod from the house above then they get this issue on some of the models (black texture) http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/images/12546-4-1354179728.jpghttp://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/images/12546-3-1354179728.jpg but when they enter the same cellar from the outside exit (not through the house) then the textures load fine...... has me stumped. anyone know why this could be happening? ive never seen this before. http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/images/12546-2-1354179727.jpghttp://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/images/12546-1-1354179727.jpg this is happening (to my knowledge) to only this person the mod is here Mist Top http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/12546/?tab=4&navtag=%2Fajax%2Fcomments%2F%3Fthread_id%3D605373%26mod_id%3D12546 if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated! MShoap13
Have the user try alt+tabbing out of the game while the black textures are present, opening something like a web browser with 2 or 3 tabs up, closing the web browser and then alt+tabbing back into the game. I will let them know... but what will that do?
MShoap13
Force purge some of the RAM and VRAM. Going from one level of an interior space to another doesn't behave the same as going from an exterior to an interior as far as the game tidying up after itself goes. Black Textures, CTDs, and stable framerate drops are commonly caused by issues with running out of RAM. If there's not enough room for the Texture you get solid black textures (sometimes blue or purple can occur but it's normally black), if there's not enough room for meshes it usually CTDs right away, if there's not enough room in the VRAM for the Frame Buffer your FPS drops to ~12 until you alt+tab out and back in or use some console command. RAM usage stats for the guy with the issue could help as well. There's a Performance Monitor mod that tracks it in the background and a mod that displays FPS and VRAM usage onscreen while you play. Either would help. Edited November 30, 2012 by MShoap13
