I've just got back into Oblivion but I need something to make me actually want to keep playing, so i was wondering if any one could recommend any mods that add more interest to Oblivion. I have played through mainly quest mods such as the dark brotherhood chronicles and Knigths of the nine revelations. I also have better cities installed!

Maybe something like these:

http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/39536

http://oblivion.nexusmods.com/mods/23420

They're not very well known mods, but they add a lot to tension and your "fight or flight" response. And I can confirm that both work perfectly without causing crashes after a few dozen hours of using them.

Then there's this, it's another big game changer, and it's great to use with Oblivion Unleveled, because otherwise without companions the game can be very difficult starting out.

And of course, there's this amazing mod:

If you're looking for graphics, your top priority should be OBGE (Oblivion Graphics Extender). It can add many modern graphical and lighting effects to Oblivion.

And there's Vilja, if you're looking for a companion she's almost universally considered the deepest and most fully featured.

For quests with more than the usual stuff

Glenvar Castle - Not easy to get, but worth the effort. I guarantee you will be looking at the walk through more than once. Are you sure you found ALL of the secret passages & rooms? http://oblivion.nexu...s.com/mods/8235

The Lost Spires - a new guild with new textures, new goals, new treasure, new - well check it out. http://oblivion.nexu....com/mods/12997

Verona House Bloodlines - a home fit for the champion, but he has to work for it. One of the longest and most comprehensive quests I have seen. Has a deep story line - must complete the main quest first. http://oblivion.nexu...searchresults/?

Dungeons of Ivellon - new textures for dungeons - lightable torches & lanterns, new creatures, new weapons, lots more - not easy http://oblivion.nexu....com/mods/13714

The Oblivion quest (mod) list

In particular I love Integration: The Stranded Light which has a lot of very interesting and fulfilling quests as well as good stories, and interesting characters.

The quests and gameplay make use of:

  1. race, attribute/skill, quest, and other recognition (ie: If you're a Khajiit you might not have to convince a Khajiit that you are a friend.)

  2. Multiple Solutions... So to continue the example: if you aren't a Khajiit you will have several other options of how to convince them you're a friend. Ranging from having completed vanilla quests, doing them a favor, or a number of skill checks.

  3. Choices and Consequences as well as freedom. A lot of the quests are possible to refuse or fail, but naturally this will usually have a detrimental effect, but also some of your actions during the mod's quests, and even vanilla quests may have unforeseen benefits as well as consequences

  4. Immersion, and Integration into the world. Everything that takes place, everything you do, and even the characters themselves are all deeply rooted in the Elder Scrolls lore, as well as the setting and events happening in the vanilla game.

This of course also takes place throughout 5 new joinable factions (2 of which have a large guild type settings and advancement systems.), 80+ quests, 24+ hours of silent dialogue, and the longest most realistic romance I've ever seen in a game, as well as many other small features, benefits, rewards, etc. that you earn throughout the mod.
