Now that the Construction Set Is Confirmed...

This is an exciting time for the mod community here because the SDK release will attract many new people. It will also bring about the release of many more advanced mods, that can greatly improve gameplay. My skills are limited to texturing, unfortunately, so CS release doesn't really change much of what I'll be able to release. What are you all planning to make, now that the CS is confirmed?

 

P.S. I wanted to thank everyone for signing the petition. I'm glad that it brought many new members to the forums as well.

I want to make a random scripted event where a vertibird will randomly drop off Enclave special forces to attack you

Of all the things the CS brings the first and foremost thing will be to give the homes a makeover for improved usability and a hell of a lot more storage, if not create my own somewhere a bit more to the north east or north west of the map as i play with the fast travel disabled and having to run back to megaton and all the way back to somewhere like oasis is a little annoying.

I'm going to make a mod to where Interior cells (most ov them, at least) respawn

And I'm going to make another one to where all containers respawn (I think the time now is one month. Not sure)

And another one that raises the prices ov EVERYTHING valuable. Excludes food and dirty water and some melee weapons and some guns.

 

That's my plan.

If I had the time... a town similar to New Reno in Fallout 2. I'd make the ending suck less as well.

 

I'd really like to see those mods... as well as a restoration project for models and such to redesign the weapons to look more like the originals... I'd probably muck about with something like that for a while. I really don't like the new energy weapon designs... the small guns look appropriately beat up and all... but the energy weapons are just disappointing.

 

Ooo, and the .223 pistol. I want to see that make a comeback.

I'm probably going to make a mod that actually puts interesting & unique stuff (and make some more unique stuff) inside all the safes and other difficultly locked objects. The LVLI loot lists for those are utterly retarded - I'd like to go through and individually fill each and every safe in the game with something different and neat and do away with their loot lists entirely. Finding an untouched safe should be a lot more exciting than it is.

Besides, what untouched Pre-War safes would be filled with Bottlecaps? Seriously!

Barring any mission-critical stuff I'd also make safes an average lock at the minimum.

 

I'd also like to see cups, pitchers, coffee mugs, shot glasses, etc to be removed as as items and just left in their various places as typical havoc-interactive debris.

They serve absolutely no in-game purpose except as an annoyance to the use of the 'take all' button.

 

I'm also going to get rid of the locks on ammo cans. You can't lock an ammo can, I've seen thousands of them and they aren't lockable unless you cut or weld something to them.

I'm also going to make a lot (if not most) of the ammo cans you find already empty, unless they are in a place where it makes sense for them to still be full-up. Plus, when you find one that is FULL, it will be FULL of something.

 

I'm also going to get rid of the chance of finding railspikes and darts in ammo cans. Again, why would anyone put either of those into an ammo can if you're one of the only people in the wastes that actually has a weapon that uses those items for ammo?

 

Oh, and weighted ammo. Ammo definitely needs to have mass.

 

Also, reworking the lockpick and science skills into something that isn't so boringly stepped into 25 point increments would be nice too, but that's a bit complicated. Reworking the skill set to go up to 200% and removing the level cap, and making tag skills work correctly again would also be damn nice.
