more realistic addiction?

Hi all, I have no idea how to even begin modding, but this is my idea -

 

I find the way addiction works in the game kind of annoying... just having a random chance of getting hooked each time you shoot up a chem is unrealistic and unfun. A better way would be to have counters that record individual drug intakes and decreases slowly over time., with the effect that the more frequently you use, the more likely you are to get hooked.

 

So, for instance, taking Jet would add a random number between 10 and 30 to 'Jet Dependence' (which decreases at a rate of 1 per game hour). If the counter ever goes over 40, you're hooked and it stops falling til you're cured. The player can't see this counter, of course, which still makes using drugs risky, but less so if you haven't used a certain chem in a while. Also, different drugs could have different thresholds of addiction.

 

Anyways that's the idea in embryo, is it doable? If anyone wants to have a crack at it, please do.
