manaan33
Well, I'm stumped. I've put all the .esp's into the data folder, and activated them in the data files portion of the olivion launcher. The problem is that none of them work. It's not even like they're there but I have the big yellow question mark things, they just aren't there. So, my question is... what did I do wrong? Quite likely, you're missing something else: the question mark calls for a check on the folders where textures and meshes are stored. I don't know what mods you've attempted to enable, but you should make sure every piece ends in the right place. Also, check whether your mods depend on other additions; some call for extensions such as OBSE. As a suggestion, you can also use the Oblivion Mod Manager to customize your game and keep track of the modules you've installed. Some folks feel quite comfortable with it, but of course your mileage may vary.
dezdimona
meshes go like this: meshes\clothes(armor)\mod nametextures: textures\clothes(armor)\mod name
bben46
What you describe is exactly what happens if you try to use mods on a Vista system. Quoted from the Oblivion Mods FAQ WIKI Using VISTA only: If you have downloaded and installed, and the mod is appearing in your Data Files List, but not in your game. Then you should reinstall Oblivion into a different directory instead of the default. Installing mods on a Windows Vista system is bit trickier than it is on Windows XP due to Vista's increased security. For best results, it is recommended to install Oblivion to a location other than the default C:\Program Files\ folder. Another location such as C:\Oblivion\ or D:\games\Oblivion\ will work better. This will avoid the file permission problems many users have experienced due to the increased security restrictions Vista places on the Program Files folder. Wiki entry on installing Oblivion in Vista: http://cs.elderscrolls.com/constwiki/index.php/Windows_Vista If you can't, or just don't want to reinstall Oblivion, try this. Vista users may have to disable a security function known as UAC. If you have downloaded and installed, and the mod is appearing in your Data Files List, but not in your game check to see if UAC is turned on. If so. Look here for instructions on how to turn it off. http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vis...-windows-vista/
manaan33
interesting. I do use vista, but I disabled the UAC quite a while ago, so I assumed that I wouldn't have to worry with problems related to Vista. Well, I'll reinstall in a new directory and see what happens. Thanks!
Deleted269910User
Just on a note, if the reinstall doesn't work, you'll need to check what game version you're running and possibly download the patches from here; http://www.elderscrolls.com/downloads/updates_patches.htm This is one of the things most people forget and have tons of issues with mods not showing up in-game due to this.(If you need to patch, always remember to check that the patch you're downloading is for your region/language/corresponding to where you bought the game.) ~Elraine
