SwissxPiplup
As we all know, sleeping is a way to pass the time and heal wounds, and if you're in survival mode, it will do some other things too, but I feel like there could be a little more functionality besides what it currently does, and in doing so would add a little bit more difficulty to sleeping in both normal and survival, and will make you want to choose where you sleep carefully. I propose adding events that occur during sleep, these events can either be good or bad, or they may not happen at all; while you sleep, as each hour ticks down, each hour brings a chance that an event will trigger; these events are text based in a pop-up on the screen and will provide a small message along with an option (or not depending on the message). For example: "Your slumbering mind is brought into focus by a sound you hear nearby, what do you do?" [Open your eyes (stop sleeping)] | [Try to rest for longer] What you choose can lead down a rabbit hole of choices, such as selecting [open your eyes], could lead to, "As you stand up, you see a rat scuttling away in fear of your presence", or you could see, "You awaken to the sound of footsteps nearby", which could spawn a random enemy or friend, or perhaps even a follower you dismissed who was just out for (Insert excuse here). With the other option, it may lead to messages like, "You feel something close to you, you can almost feel its breath on you." [Open your eyes] [Try to rest for longer] If you open your eyes at this point, the rat could have gotten away with something of yours, gone forever; you could wake up to a raider gang, you could be awoken and take damage by a falling piece of debris, if you sleep through all of the messages and if you have the Mystery man perk, you may wake up to some goodies nearby, or even in your inventory, or perhaps something bad instead; if you have a follower with you, they may keep an eye out for you, keeping baddies away (but they may also fall asleep while protecting you, who knows? RNGesus knows). The mod should have a harder version of itself which adds some more unforgiving outcomes, such as sleeping too long while hearing noises could lead to death, or having weapons and/or armour stolen, or perhaps even being kidnapped and waking up in a raider base, which you will then have to break out of (and find your way back to whatever it was you were doing as a secondary kick in the virtual balls); it should also add unavoidable outcomes, you remember that debris falling on you before when you decided to try and rest for longer? In this version it can happen without giving you an option, "You awaken suddenly to a loud bang from some falling debris and a pain in your right arm" [Okay], with this, you'll wake up with a crippled right arm and some health gone. Not to mention the effect this could have well playing in survival, winning some goodies for taking a risky nap can help you in unimaginable ways, but don't forget that sleeping in this mode recovers fatigue, so you really don't want to wake up early, but the Commonwealth is a dangerous place, and sometimes... It may just save your life. Choosing where to sleep is imperative for this too, sleeping in a settlement you own greatly reduces the chance of negative events from occurring, whereas sleeping in an uncleared place (For example, Park Street Station before the Triggermen have been cleared out) could increase the odds of something bad happening; and sleeping outside? Perhaps a radstorm happens by and you wake up with half your max health missing because you just wanted "five more minutes". Optional: This would be an optional addon (if the mod author chooses to make it) that adds dream states in which choosing to wake up may sometimes wake up you in a dream world, this world can be different and chosen at random, it will have a specific theme which could be silly, or serious (perhaps you wake up in a meat dream, super mutant meat sacks are everywhere, brahmin and radstags are hostile, and your goal is to defeat them all without dying; or perhaps you have a nightmare about bugs, and you're challenged to reach the end of a maze while being pestered by them, unable to heal, you have to find the end fast), and contain a verity of puzzles, enemies, challenges, timed events, or a combination of them; finishing the dream may net you a sweet reward, whereas failing them (dying, running out of time, etc...) may impact you negatively, or just do nothing and wake you up normally.
