chaosvine
Ok so I'm relatively new to modding and modeling, but I understand the basics. I've created a custom ring that I have successfully exported using the tutorial found here on the nexus. My problem is coming up during nifskope. Because skyrim modding is not supported by blender (the application I'm using) you have to modify some of the nif values in nifskope. I've reached the point where I have everything correct with no errors from nifskope. Except, I can't seem to get my texture to register on the mesh. What I am doing is copying the BSLightingShaderProperty from one of the vanilla rings from the game and then setting my textures to it. But it doesn't work. This is what the tutorial says to do, so I'm at a loss. Maybe I've misinterpreted something somewhere or I'm just doing it wrong. Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated as I've worked very hard on this and would like to be able to use it. :)
asdgora
Click on your nirtishape, scroll down the block details till you find BSproperties, expand it, change the value (if any) of the first slot with the number next to BSLightingShaderProperty. http://i.imgur.com/db6BQ.jpg Edited December 1, 2012 by asdgora

I have already done what you have suggested. However I don't see anything called "BSproperties" mine just says properties, and I have the BSLightingShaderProperty under that. =/ Edit: I see what you are saying. I don't have anything called BSproperties in my list under Nitrishape. Edited December 1, 2012 by chaosvine
asdgora
You don't see "BSproperties" because you have an older version of nifskope, but I don't think that makes any difference. If they're not already there, put your .nif in skyrim/data/meshes/whatever... and your .dds in skyrim/data/texture/whatever..., then update your texture path in nifskope if necessery. On nifskope's toolbar, click: render > settings. In there 'rendering' tab, make sure the 'textures' box is checked, in the 'add folder' windows, click add folder then point to your 'skyrim/data' folder. I can now see the textures on the object in nifskope. I was using an older version of Nifskope apparently and had the BSLightingShaderProperty set under "Properties" instead of "BSProperties". In the Bethesda Creation kit and game however, the ring still appears to have no texture. When I try to look at the ring in the items menu it shows up as a big red triangle with a exclamation point. Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong?

chaosvine
http://www.creationkit.com/Exporting_meshes_to_Creation_Kit#Part_4._Collision What I'm making is a piece of armor (a ring). I don't know if that makes any difference. This tutorial you've shown me is quite different than the one I found here.
asdgora
I've never modded an armor so I don't know about that :/
