Xary
A simple idea a piece of furniture that once put down has 3 containers one of wich linked to a button of somesort maybe two we'll call them "1", "2" and "3" the way it works is 1: put items with mods in container 1 (for this example we'll use a painted Compensated Auto 10mm) 2: press button located on container 1 3:Mods are taken out of the 10mm pistol, the paint scheme, compensator and auto receiver are put in container 2, the 10mm is given its most basic/cheapest set of mods and put in container 3 from there you can pick up your mods and weapons and put them away in your workshop maybe add a second button to run the process in reverse to mod large quantities of gear to equip settlers aim of the mod:while playing with not a lot of crafting skills can be fun (no gun nut, no science...) and lead to every modded gun having value if only to take them apart for their mods, the SHEER QUANTITY of guns and armors you'll hoard makes going through your stashed stuff at a workshop an ABSOLUTE PAIN this would SIGNIFICANTLY streamline workshop inventories and make equipping settlers / look for a specific armor tiers VASTLY easier, no more guessing whether that synth armor you picked up is light medium or heavy anymore... instyne49
Have you looked at VIS-G ? Valdicil's item sorting, https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/33383 , and patches. It creates categories for your inventory, including a separate category for mods. The patches add key-words for things like weapons, armor, power armor, food, vehicles, you name it, someone has made a patch for it, or can upon request. VIS-G Patch Galaxy a WIP, https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/41223 , is a compendium of these patches. This makes it easier to find sub-categories like a particular type of weapon, armor, gun mod. If you use keyNuker and keyRing - Hidden keys, https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/5108 , and , Patch for Valdacil's Item Sorting to keyNuker and keyRing - Hidden keys, https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/9847 all keys, passwords and such sre all under the Kewnucker heading.. These make you inventory much easier to organize. I hope this helps, although it's not exactly what you asked for.
Xary
I don't actually have the season pass, kinda expensive, and that sorting thing seems to require all the DLCs...
instyne49
I didn't think to ask if you had the season pass. I just checked Steam and they do want about $45 bucks, after almost 5 years, that's expensive. I did a browser search and it can be found for around 20 dollars for all of them. I don't know if you're on PC but if you can get them, it's worth the cost because it adds so much content. Between Nuka-world and Far Harbor it about doubles the game. The Automatron adds tons of robots and game functionality. If you can't get it, someone might still make something for you. Maybe check out the DLC's on YouTube for ideas.
