Guest deleted3055586
What you guys think about the guilds trying to save Cyrodiil? hypothetically would they stand a chance? mages and fighters joining forces (maybe the dark brotherhood too) could they bring the peace? or would the daedra destroy everyone? Legotrash
The mages don't count, I remember one of the quests: "We have all the info gathered but we need your help to figure things out!"Right from the beginning the mages would die by aiming their staffs on themselves "Does this thing work?". Ghoulz
Considering the bad AI they've got, they'd enter one of the gates, then walk into the lava.
PrinceJonathan
Well according to my own personal headcanon, because the Legion is spread so thin across the various provinces, the Elder Counsel or local Counts would contract the Fighters Guild to help fight off the Daedra. Which is why you hear the rumor, "I hear the Fighters Guild is recruiting again. Not a bad way to make some money, if you've got the stones for it." It's because they lost so many members during the Oblivion Crisis. There doesn't seem to be any in-game reference, hint, or clue to suggest any involvement of the Mages Guild. Only thing they ever seem to mention in rumors is Hannibal Traven's ban on necromancy. I don't think anyone in the Mages Guild is even aware of the crisis, I don't recall anyone mentioning it. The Dark Brotherhood and Thieves Guild would most likely remain uninvolved, one because there is no profit in it, and two because if they took an active roll it would draw too much attention to themselves. Now as for the Guilds standing a chance, well...if they use videogame AI and logic no way. If they followed real world logic, then the Mages Guild would definitely be more involved as they'd be the go-to authority on the Oblivion Gates. They'd be the ones to figure out how they work, and how to possibly shut them down. And Battlemages would be fighting right alongside the Legion and Fighters Guilds. Really if the whole game followed real world logic there would be a lot more encounters like the one at Fort Sutch, only with more troops. And the Defense of Bruma would probably play out like the Battle for Helm's Deep from Lord of the Rings. I would love to do a fanfic where the game plays out more rationally, but I can't write for crap, heck this post is probably full of spelling errors and bad grammar. Zella
Saving Cyrodill ought to have been part of the MQ. You go through all that stress and bother and, like in Morrowind, nothing much changes. Some places are even left burning! It is very unsatisfying. It is why many people like to add Kvatch recovery mods. Besides, you really ought to get some sort of reward (a throne of your own) for all you did to shut out Oblivion with very little assistence from anyone else. A statue is nice but it a throne is a nice place to rest your tired butt. You really would like to see that you can make a difference instead of feeling futile. It is sort of sad that these mods are so much more satisfying and of better quality than the official expansions. Starting a Ranger Guild that cleaned out bandit nests and taught local people to keep them clear would be another idea. A healers guild that traveled about to teach and cure would be another. There are diseases and injuries away from chapels where people need help in a more logical situation. Perhaps the Guilds could recognize that they did need to look outside of their own walls and deal with problems common to all. The story doesn't need to end there and there ought to be some visible recovery and progress. It is also ripe ground for some very good supplimental additions with more substance than even SI. I think people would pay a new game price for a serious upgrade, instead of some steam game that you don't really own and allows some thrid party unlimited access to your game and computer. Most of the dog work is already done and it wouldn't be that big of a project.
