Bound Item Extravaganza

Yesterday I was snooping around the GECK when I realised that bound item is still a feature in New Vegas, being legacy from all the way back to TES4 era. I assumed that It was fully functional, made a small test mod that allowed me to use "food" grenades that would summon a frag grenade to my hands when consumed. What followed was one of the most confusing few minutes of my game life.

 

What I though would happen:

1. I "eat" the nade.

2. A frag grenade spawns in my inventory.

3. It gets equipped.

4. I throw the nade.

5. Previous weapon get equipped back.

 

What happened:

1. I "eat" the nade (so far so good)

2. A frag grenade spawns in my inventory.

3. I get a message about not being able to equip the weapon.

4. I open my pipboy and see that the frag nade is just there.

5. I try to equip it to no avail.

6. I try to equip ANYTHING else. It doesn't work.

7. I hot key the nade. Close pipboy and give it a try.

8. SUCCESS!

9. I trow the nade.

10. ???????

11. I'm out with my fist outs and can't equip any other item.

12. Go to the pipboy and try to no avail.

13. Hotkey the AMR and equip it that way.

14. Now the AMR shoot with the animation of the marksman carbine for some reason? It even uses the same sound.

15. The spell ends.

16. Still f*#@ed up. Can't equip s#*!.

17. Close game and delete file.

 

Anyways, I wanted to share this "experience" and see if anybody else feels like there is potential in "taming" this glitch. The most interesting part for me was the animation switching that happened, i didn't even think that was possible. Still, probably better to stay clear of Bound Item Effect.
