vitvit
Hello, I have a question: I have a previous save file I've never used mods with... BUT for a month I've been playing with the following mods: Werewolf loot modish respec modSkyuiCBBE body modCBBE armor mod I know your answer is going to END with "Always keep a clean save file that hasn't been played with while mods are installed" But I'm interested in how much "actual" risk is there is in terms of longevity of the save file, if I have NONE of those mods installed, will one day my file be unplayable without them? Or the game will just crash when I try to play without those mods? I ask because with my testing, I've played with a copied CLEAN Data folder and then SWITCHED back to my MODS ADDED DATA folder MULTIPLE times over the last month, and my save files fine. So is there really a huge risk? Do people acutally get corrupted save files that are ***Unloadable*** when playing their saves without mods? Thanks for the feedback! Dart98Rock
Having a save file being corrupted only happened to me once since I started modding games for the pc. I forgot how but I some how did fix it, it was on Fallout 3 with 110 + mods. Saves are files and I'm sure there is a way for a completely vanilla save file to get corrupt, if it's technology something weird and hard to fix is bound to happen. The only way to guarantee that you want lose your save is to back it up, I try to back mine up around once a week. Between Fallout 3 and Skyrim I have 1000+ saves (I always make a new save), and only one has ever got corrupted. Hope that helps you, just remember messing with files in a program/game, problems will pop up but there usually easily fixed (specially with the people here on Nexus to help you).
