Help? Equip item looted to advance quest stage

Hello, just a little heads up. I found a mistake I made in the stage "displayed" and "completed" section. I must have done this while shuffling things around at some point in the last couple of days. Stage 30 incorrectly reads
SetObjectiveCompleted(30) SetObjectiveDisplayed(40)

Also, stage 90 is wrong. It reads

SetObjectiveCompleted(90)

. This wasn't going to affect the Scene, but certainly messed things up in other ways.

Just reporting in here, I tried the mod with a clean save character and things were a little better than previously.

Now the way it is, after talking to the "contact" npc, the stage advances to "go to your ceremony", but sadly, nothing else is triggered. I was hoping that a trigger box placed at the ceremony location would work, but I've set that up wrong I guess.

So using the console I set the stage to 60, where my scene starts and the townspeople all show up, the bard drummer plays a bit, but in general the audience just kinda looks at me. There is no speech where there should be, so there is no progression to the next stage, and thus there is no prompt for the player to "put the crown on your head". Putting the crown on my head advances the stage to 70 as it should, but the audience doesn't clap as they are meant to. Sitting on the throne ends the quest as it should.

So, problems are heaviest where the quest relies on dialogue. The dialogue I recorded for the commander (contact npc) does not fire off, nor does he speak at the ceremony scene as he should. This has always been an issue for me which is why I've shied away from quest building all this time. I dunno, without any kind of speech the ceremony will be pretty damn boring for any player using the mod, but I'm not sure what I can do about it. BTW, saving next to the actor who is supposed to speak and restarting Skyrim doesn't seem to fix the trouble as it is said to do.

I could change the scene entirely to rely on actions I suppose. Stage 50 go to ceremony, stage 60 put on your crown and the audience all goes down on their knees.... someone lights a fire or blows a horn...they all just commit suicide...I have no idea. The dialogue f-up is a big thorn in my butt. Anyway, yeah. Just thought I'd share this.

Yes, me too. And I really SHOULD be busy with everything else, I just have a wacko side of me that can't stand not being able to do things. I'm not in a hurry, and there's no deadlines, my lack of understanding but feeling so close to "getting it" bugs me.

Dialogue...just really... yes, I hate it. Tonight I've been playing around with things that didn't involve the silly commander guy. Without his speech to push things forward, the townsfolk show up and as soon as the player puts on the crown, they all bolt. So I've been messing with the idles tab in the actor's travel-to-ceremony packages. Kinda fun that. Instead of standing around like fools, they could be bowing.

On other fronts, I learned how to use the quest stages to enable things, lights, actors, etc. which is really cool. Never really knew why Lydia just kinda showed up in the game suddenly like that, now I do.

Anyway, take it easy don't feel any pressure to help any more than you can. You've helped loads already.

Hello hello,

It's good that you didn't have time to look at the mod yet. Actually letting me know you hadn't kinda freed me up to plink around on the mod and I've changed stuff around. I really, really didn't want to deal with this voice mess and 1 buggy voice per quest is all I think a player should have to put up with. If you give me another day, I'll have the newest version posted. What I think would be better, is if the player comes to the ceremony, people bow, etc. What I'm having difficulty with right now is stage setting.

"Go to your ceremony" is triggered by the dialogue, and actors coming to the ceremony is triggered by the player walking through a trigger box. The trouble is, it takes some time for the actors to show up, and if the player puts the crown on his head too early, the quest will advance and the audience will have never shown up. I'd still like your help if you have free time, but it's not quite the same set of problems as before. Cheers

Hello hello,

It's good that you didn't have time to look at the mod yet. Actually letting me know that you hadn't kinda freed me up to plink around on the mod and I've changed stuff around. The voice bug keeps the scene from firing off at all, so I've deleted it.

Right now, "Go to your ceremony" is triggered by the dialogue, and that's cool. But at the moment, the audience is triggered to come to the castle when the player walks through a trigger box. The trouble is, it takes some time for the actors to show up, and if the player jumps the gun and puts the crown on his head too early, the quest will advance and the audience will have never shown up.

I'm in better shape than I was a couple days ago, but I'm still not clear on where I need to get or set a stage or two. The mod is now uploaded as Version6 here: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/27646

Thanks for the time you took to reply all this time. Without your help I wouldn't have gotten this far.

The quest is working now, thanks a lot. One of the many big problems I had was the voice just not working. I simplified the scene to just include the bowing part, and left the speech aspect out. I hear enough of my voice in the mod now. ;)
