quattroboy
Hi All, Hoping someone may be able to help. I just bought a new pc: i7 3820, Win7 64 Ultimate, 32Gig ddr3 2133mHz, ASUS GTX 690, 240 GB SSD, Seagate 2TB Sata 3, Corsair Gold 1050W PSU. Playing at 1080p on a flat screen LED TV via HDMI. Installed Skyrim from Steam. All seems fine, until the opening scenes in the cart. The horse pulling cart rears up and gets stuck. It looks like the rear quarters of the horse are glued to the ground and the front half is throwing itself all over the place. The Character animations and voices carry on as normal, but the game will not progress any further, we are just stuck there. Any help or advice would be appreciated. Many thanks
quattroboy
Forgot to mention that I did download the HD Texture pack through Steam also. Thanks. Edited December 8, 2012 by quattroboy
bben46
The opening portion of the game does not work well with some mods. I recommend not activating any mods until you finish the Helgen tutorial part - then, when you exit the cave - make a permanent save as a fall back for troubleshooting without mods - Then add your mods. I don't remember if Skyrim gives you a final chance to make changes to your character just before you exit the cave or not - If it does, that is another place for a permanent save. You may have to start over and sit through that long intro all over again.
quattroboy
Thanks. No mods installed yet, unless the Steam HD Textures count? I guess that must be a mod, though thinking about it! LOL I will do a fresh instal and run vanilla as you suggest and create a safe save before moving on. Thanks
quattroboy
Uninstalled the game, deleted all folders left behind, then re-installed from Steam library. No mods, just vanilla. Same thing. As soon as the game starts up, I hear the sounds fine and see everything OK, but the horse and cart go crazy and get stuck spinning around while the NPC's happily chat away to themselves! Any ideas on a fix would be most welcomed. Thanks Edited December 8, 2012 by quattroboy
FiftyTifty
Here is a clean save, right at the character creation screen. Make sure you're fully updated.
quattroboy
Thanks for that. :) Now how do I stop the horse that's standing in the courtyard, from jumping up and down like it has springs on its hooves!??
FiftyTifty
Press 'Tilde', 'Click horse', type 'disable', press 'Enter', type 'Markfordelete', press 'Enter', press 'Tilde'.
Grimoa
I don't remember if Skyrim gives you a final chance to make changes to your character just before you exit the cave or not. It doesn't which is a shame really.
quattroboy
Thanks guys. I discovered that the openning cart error and the bouncing animals was related to having too high a frame rate. I set vsync to on in nvidia cp and all is now well with the world :) thanks for your help and replies though everyone. :)
