A few questions about mods and modding DA:O

Hello everyone,

It has been far too long since I last took on the Darkspawn and I feel that I must return to Ferelden but because it has been so long I wanted to get some input from you the community and some answers to questions that I have forgotten about modding due to time.

1.First and foremost, While I know this is a pretty vague question and I know we have several categories of "Best Mods' I wanted to know what you the community think are some "Must Have" or great mod additions to have while playing Dragon Age Origins. I am not looking for quest mods for the simple fact that most of the voice acting (whilst a great effort) just cannot simply match the quality or standards that DA:O has and will just simply throw me off entirely.

2.I seem to recall having some issues previously with installing mods and was wondering if there is a way to install the mods that will alert me of or prevent conflicts/crash during game play? Nothing is more irritating and will put me off from finishing a game than game crashes that cannot be fixed or having to completely start from the beginning.

3.I am really into immersion and character creation so if someone could direct me to mods that will enhance those aspects of the game I would appreciate that.

Finally (or at least until I can think of more XD) I have always wanted a way to have the Origins story with DA2 graphics/battle system and was wondering if anyone is or has created a overhaul that will allow that to be done like Baldurs Gates TuTu mod did?

Thank you for your time and responses and May the Maker Watch Over You

Welcome back to Thedas, gothxtreme. :biggrin:

To answer your questions in reverse order;

No, there's no re-working of the DAO combat system that I know of. The closest I've found is: "Combat Delay Reduction".

For "Best Mods", opinions vary so widely that I don't thinks there's a real answer to that. While it's a little outdated, see this topic for a discussion from several points of view: Good Mods - Opinions.

And as far as how to employ all the different kinds of mods, see this article: Using Dragon Age Mods for Dummies.

Happy Modded Gaming! :thumbsup:

Thanks for your reply Thandal, Ill definitely check into the links you provided for me. I am sure they will be of great use and it is unfortunate that no such redux has been made. Not to start a debate or change topic to much but I would have loved to see a way for Origins to be incorporated into DA2's system just solely for the battle system and to an extent the graphics XD
