Mod Request: Disliked/Hated Gifts Refused

So I've been thinking about the gift mechanics.
It's weird and unrealistic to me how it basically requires you to keep a wiki page open whenever you're giving out gifts to NPCs. The thing is, in real life, if it's not Christmas or the person's birthday or any other event where they're obligated to accept gifts, typically if you try to offer someone something they don't like, they'll probably just SAY they don't like it if they don't like it. They won't say "Ew I hate this" and then proceed to take the bad gift anyway. That's just kind of insane. And it can rob you of expensive items in a way that makes no sense at all (for example if you tried to give Penny a Rabbit's Foot.)

So I'd like a mod that makes it so that if you try to give someone a disliked or hated gift, the item isn't actually removed from your inventory, and the "gift per week" counter doesn't go up. (I can go either way on whether or not it prevents you from giving the person another gift that day. I could see it being awkward to offer someone something they hate and then come back later with something they like as a weird follow up.) Not only that, the amount that disliked/hated gifts impact a person should probably be reduced pretty significantly (it's not like you're forcing them to take the bad gift anymore.)

I don't think Winter Star should be changed (I've certainly gotten bad Christmas gifts in real life) and an exception for birthdays as well would be nice, but also not necessary since that would probably be harder to code.

In the meantime I was thinking of redoing gift taste myself, since that's pretty easy (there's a page on the wiki on how to do it) in order to make things by and large neutral (for example, why do people get upset with me if I give them a pine cone? I'd probably just be confused if I was gifted a pine cone in real life) which would probably go along really well with this hypothetical mod I'm suggesting.
