Festivals!

Hey everyone, I think that the humdrum days of (most of) the people in Skyrim would need to be broken up by periodic festivals.

Going on historical records (in our world), these festivals would likely be based on either hunting, mating, or harvest - so we should do all three.

Ideas I've had so far:

1) A salmon run festival near Whiterun or Riverwood, where the amount of salmon swimming upriver would double or triple and folks would wade into the water to try to catch them. The amount would be so plentiful that the Jarl (or one of his subordinates) would appear, lording over free food and drinks (and music).

2) A horker festival near Winterhold or Dawnstar. Basically it would be a slaughtering festival, where everyone hunts a larger than usual amount of horkers coming ashore. Again, there would be free drinks (mead) and music (but likely no food).

3) A festival of love put on in Riften where eligible folk travel to meet one another and hopefully find someone to love. Of course, it would be difficult to make them do anything but the most basic of talking to each other, but it could help the player find a man or a woman, as well as simply be more free drinks and music.

4) A victory day, on the one-year anniversary of when the Dragonborn either freed Skyrim or killed Ulfric. It would be held in Solitude or Winterhold, and, again, free food, music, and drinks.

All of these could be brought to the player's attention via letter by courier (being passed out to everyone in the hold around that time) or they could simply stumble upon them. Ideally, they would be programmed to occur yearly or every few months. I'd also be willing to write and perform dialogue if the modder wanted new characters to take part in the festivals.

What do you folks think?

Thanks, Oubliette! This is even better - though I still like my ideas too  - and I think even more reason that someone should help me jump on this plan!

Come on, folks - I know there's some very talented modder who has this on the tip of their brain. Make the leap.
