Dark Minion

Hey,

now don't be mad at me for my first post being a request, it's just been bugging me for quite a time now...

You all know the dark minion that dwells in Deepscorn Hollow, the one you kinda "bought", the one that goes and kills in the name of Sithis.

Now, the thing that I find quite annoying is that this guy apparently likes to die on the mission you send him on.

My request is, I guess not a really big or considerably hard one, to change it so that the guy can be revived somehow, or just can't die.

It's possible that he fails a mission and returns without any loot, if possible it'd be great to keep it like that.

Now I myself have absolutely no experience about creating mods, so please don't be mad about that either :whistling:

I already searched the mod database and the forum and couldn't find anything about the dark minion, it was all about creating armors and remodeling Deepscorn Hollow, if there really is a mod like that out there, that I somehow overlooked, you've got my personal permission to be mad at me, but if so, please link me :thanks:

Thanks in advance for your answers and opinions, greetings

Well somewhat,

you see at one point in the game I sent the him on a mission, after around 2 weeks he didn't reappear so I searched forums for an answer.

One guy wrote there that the mission the minion went on are as long as up to 1 week, and that if he doesn't reappear within one week he failed the mission and died, maybe it's scripted in a certain way that there's a percentage for critical failure or something that keeps him from reappearing.

And when I play this character now, months after this issue, he still isn't back, so I assume it's either a bug or scripted in a way that really keeps him from reappearing.

If it's scripted to resurrect him later it's a hell of a long time, and it's not possible to "rehire" this guy.

Thanks, I think you were of help, after all some things were clarified for others who might've asked the same question

Hmmmmm, I use the Dark Minions services a lot, atleast on my assassin/evil guy Maim Claw, quite useful in getting loot and Infamy for that delicious Ichor of Sithis blessing hehehe. Although, oddly enough, I've never had him FAIL a misson, which is odd because I've sent him on about 20 different missions to "murder in the name of Sithis". I'll try and help you soon, but I need to reinstall, some of me files got curropted (accidentally downloaded a bad mod).

Hey,

thanks for the help and even considering it. Just to make something more clear since you wrote fail, in my eyes there are 2 ways he "fails".

Just on another character a couple of hours ago he came back to Deepscorn hollow and I got a message that he failed to complete the mission, he came back, but without loot.

The other kind of fail is the reason I actually created this topic for, that he just won't return, due to death or a bug, I can't really tell you which it is though

I'm inclined to believe that you, my friend, have a bug, and a rather crappy one at that. There's the possibility that you may have enabled a mod or something that messed with the cell or script in some way on that file, or it could be that you're just plain unlucky. hard to tell

You could drop the Vile Lair to the bottom of your mod load list to minimize the possibilities of conflict. This is adviced for all DLC content to maximize the chance of everything working properly. You could also install the; Unofficial Official Mods Patch, as they fix a lot of problems with the DLC content. Just make sure to follow all the instructions when installing and have the proper load order.(Patches ALWAYS after the actual mod.) If you haven't downloaded it already, I advice you to get Oblivion Mod Manage(OBMM) aswell and use it to easily manage your mod load order.

Hi,

I use Wryebash instead of Obmm, although I've got that too, I also have the patches for the official Add-ons and they are quite near the end of my loading order.

Well, I guess it is a bug than, and you're quite right that it's a crappy one at that.

I couldn't tell you what mod would conflict with Vile Lair, I got around 86, and a lot of high-resolution textures, but as far as I can tell I got not a single mod that conflicts with the Vile Lair Add-on.

At some point I looked up the mod conflicts in Obmm, and rearranged some mods with TES4Edit to evade those conflicts, but I've never seen a conflict marked that related to said Add-on...

I appreciate your help and advice on this problem, I've never had it with any of my other characters, which is of course good, but I'm somewhat afraid that it could happen again.

If someone should find out anything about a possible bug, mod conflict related or not, I'd also appreciate a fix or an idea for how to evade it for this, not just for me but for the community as well, as this bug is quite annoying

Greetings
