scrivener07
This I love this idea. Add a button on the main page of each site that takes you directly to a random mod page. Though I think there should be a few conditions. Mod has never been featured or a hot file.Has been off the recently uploaded mods list for quite some time. And has had at least some kind of author activity in the last month even if it was just a post in the official mod thread. What do the people think? :ninja:
Thandal
I think meeting your criteria 1) and 2) means very, very few mods will meet 3). You can accomplish almost the same thing yourself with three clicks instead of one. Files - Click CategoriesScroll rapidly - Click without lookingScroll rapidly - Click without looking
scrivener07
 ahh didnt work. Only gets you random mod on the page your looking at. Trying to find overlooked mods authors are still supporting. Even if the list is 100 mods long I know there would be some gems hiding in there :)
Thandal
... Trying to find overlooked mods authors are still supporting. And that's the problem, isn't it? If a mod is "overlooked", then the chances that the author is "still supporting it" diminish rapidly. As bben46 once calculated (and given the number of mods added to the Nexus daily, this figure is only getting smaller) if displayed for a single day on a rotating basis with all the others who meet the same criteria, a 'random' mod will appear once every couple-of-thousand-years. Remove those which don't meet your other criteria, and you're down to 'once every century-or-so'. And remember, we still haven't even attempted to determine the quality of these mods. You have a better chance of finding one of those "hidden gems" everyone is sure exists using the manual method I described and adding a random number of "Next Page" clicks each time! :teehee:
