How to make follower not pickup random guns?

Basically what the title says.

 

I created a follower that uses a sword,but she keeps wanting to pickup plasma rifles and other weapons.I was mostly wondering if their is a way i can stop this from happening?

The simplest way is to set the combat style in her follow package to FollowersCombatStyleMelee. If you do this, it will be very rare that she loots a ranged weapon. If you want to be able to switch her to ranged also, then you need a second follow package with a ranged combat style. This method works really well, since the current package rules. Besides that, you can make and assign her to a class so that her melee skills are much higher than other weapon skills.

To guarantee she will never loot requires that you force equip the weapon through a script, but I've made several followers with just the package trick and they were fine.
