Glytched
It took me a while to figure out a way to work around this problem. I gained the Vampire Lord race today after starting the Dawnguard quest line. After you drink his blood and become a vampire, he tells you to change into the Vampire Lord form, blah blah and so on. Problem is, when you revert back out of that form, the game for some reason doesn't remember my race as an imperial vampire anymore, it seemly sees me as a normal mortal Imperial again. I found a work around by using the command line player.setrace imperialracevampire (could be nordracevampire, or whatever you are). Without using that command line, I don't have the glowing vampire eyes after I change forms back, and I cannot feed on sleeping npc's until I use it again. And I have to use that command every single time I use the vampire lord form. This is hella freaking annoying, being as in doing so the game sees you as a "fresh vampire" or some such crap, and for the next 24 in game hours, npc's can possibly see you as a hostile and attack. Plus you gotta type that every time, which I'm rather lazy and it feels kind of wrong to do so anyways. Also, without that command you cannot do any of the vampire story. They all see me as a mortal without it. A fix to this would be an amazing Christmas present :) Also for Christmas, can someone mod the Thalmor boots and gloves so that they are light armor and black? I love the look of them, just not the coloring so much.
Deleted1308005User
Aye, did you use console commands to become vampire in first place? Or possibly changed race or something with console earlier? To me it sounds like something like that. I remember that there was bug very similar with Werewolf form. I guess you've already used console tons of times to change that stuff for now? and you can't revert to save before becoming vampire lord. Here's couple of ideas: Check your active effects for vampire stuff, do you have sun weakness and such. Are you using mods which change vampirism, are you using custom race. Also, when in "normal" state. (Not vampire), try to turn into vampire by talking to Serana/Harkon.If it does not work, go to Falion and cure yourself of vampirism, then talk to Serana or Harkon again and try again. Edit: Also, just in case: Backup your save/don't save over your current game Edited December 10, 2012 by Guest
Glytched
I never changed my characters race. Ever, early on in my characters life I did change her hair style/color, and her eyes because I downloaded a mod for eyes.... That's it. I used the Dawnguard story line and the Vampire Kings offer for saving his daughter to change me, I did not use any console commands to do so. Even without using the command line I can change into a VL at will, I am weak to the sun, I have all of the Vampire Lord abilities. I cannot however, feed on anyone at all, be they asleep or seduced. My character has her normal mortal eyes as well, not the glowing vampire ones. I can fix this by using the command line to change into an imperial vampire, but as soon as I change forms again into the Vampire Lord, and back again, I'm in the same boat and have to use the command again. There is one thing that is conflicting (maybe) that I just thought of, I have a mod that changes Night Vision to work with any race. I thought it was stupid that a werewolf didn't have it. But when I change my race to a vampire again, that ability goes away and I get vampire sight, so I doubt that is the issue.
Deleted1308005User
Did you try curing yourself of vampirism and then getting it again?
Glytched
Nope, don't even know how to go about that, and if I did it again, would I still be a Vampire Lord or just a normal vampire? is there a difference?
Mallory13
A bit late to this party, but I've had this issue for the majority since I had Dawnguard. I initially made a Dunmer vampire, and all was well for awhile. Then, suddenly, I noticed his eyes were wrong. Part of them had the vampire glow, but the majority seemed darkened. Also, NPC AI seemed to revert to pre-Dawnguard vampire mentality of attacking me while in the final stage of vampirism. Afterwards, I remade the character, became a vampire, but noted that I fell into the issue the original poster here had. I attempted to cure vampirism through Falion, but something weird occurred. I retained my powers, but was no longer of the Dunmer Vampire race. I tried to regain vampirism, but kept having this issue. I ended up making the character over again, this time without ever becoming a vampire. Attempts with new characters to become vampires results in the same issue of having the powers, but not being the race. I've attempted to remove all mods. I reinstalled Skyrim. Nothing seems to remove this issue. Edit: I attempted the command of making an Argonian character a vampire following receiving Harkon's gift. I then tried to go into the Vampire Lord form, and the game froze up entirely. Edited April 5, 2013 by Mallory13
