Gamerbird
This is a piece of English Coursework I did, in was over a year ago The night sky was crimson red as we limped the last mile towards the abandoned house. The path was lined with trees that were losing their leaves while the wind blew against them and made them creek and bend. Susan had once told me that when she went to see her psychic that she whispered in her ear that one day she would travel a great distance but and the end of this trek she would be left with nothing. The day was drawing to an end; the sky was becoming a jet black colour. We had almost reached the main gate when we noticed something. No one had noticed this for a while and neither did I. Something was wrong, something had gone but we weren’t sure what. We carried on through the main gate and reached the door. It was etched open about a metre. When we were coming up the path the door was closed. Then we knew what had happened. We knew what was missing. Rio. Rio had gone missing but where? Where could he have gone? This wasn’t right. When we started off, he was with us. He was with us until we got up to the main gate. I told them to go back and look for him but they didn’t listen. They decided to stay there and continue without him. After all, he probably got scared and went home. I joined them as I did not want to trek back home alone. It was no time to worry about Rio as I have to worry about the sleep over at the abandoned house. As we entered the house everything seemed perfectly fine. We were all in the house (with the exception of Rio) and all was going good. The door swung closed as the wind blew it and I heard a loud clicking noise. I tried to open the door but I couldn’t. It was jammed. All of the girls started to scream and cry but us boys just tried to calm them. Once we had calmed the girls, we then looked around the house that we had only ever seen the outside of. We heard a slight scuttle across the ground, but luckily it was only a rat. Once we had found a room that was empty, we settled down for the night. None of us could understand why Rio left, as he was the one who set the whole thing up. Maybe something came up; maybe he felt ill and went home so he didn’t ruin our night? I don’t know but all I wanted to do was get to sleep and get ready to leave tomorrow morning. The night closed in like a shark on its pray. and everyone but me and Joe were asleep. Joe had gone to the loo when I heard a shout. This woke everyone up and we all ran to the loo. Nobody was there. We looked all round the room for Joe. We couldn’t see him at all. Then Graham started to complain about the house and that the ceiling was leaking. We all looked up and there he was. Joe was there. Nailed up to the ceiling. He had his throat slit so all of his blood dripped out and killed him. It wasn’t such a great sight. We all ran to the main door and tried to ram it open. It wouldn’t budge at all. We were all trapped. No one was calm, not even me. We all ran around the house and screamed. We eventually all lost each other.I found Phil once we ran around so much that we were tired. We still couldn’t find anyone else. Me and Phil started moving around the house in search of everyone else. We found a loose panel in the ceiling. There was a rope hanging from the panel. We pulled it and then we found one of them. She was on the floor. Her face completely pale. Then we looked at her eyes. Her eyelids were there, but not her eyes. They were gone. They must have been taken out and then slowly let to die. Sophie has been killed as well. This isn’t good, two of our friends have been killed in one day. What was going to happen next? We continued around the house in search of our other two friends and an alternate way out.We found another set of stairs going down which seemed to go into a storeroom. We tip-toed down the stairs into the storeroom, there was a few boxes scattered around the room and one door. We decided to open the door. It was gross. This house was starting to tell us why it seemed abandoned. The cupboard contained jars of human remains, all labelled with one of the seven sins. Was there a murderer on the loose? Or just some crazed psycho on the loose? Everything seemed to be going as Susan’s psychic had said. We had walked a few miles up to this house and it seemed as if we were losing everything to. We had lost Joe, Rio and Sophie in one day.We continued on as we couldn’t keep thinking about what was going on. All I could think about was if I was going to live or if my life was going to end here, on the day two of my friends had died and one missing. We crept out of the storeroom and upstairs into a room that had a window in. We heard a jangling on keys and a slight click of a lock. The door swung open. He was here but where had he been? Rio had arrived but then he pulled a chain with a hook on the end around the door with him. On the end it had Susan on it. The hook stuck through her chest. What has he done?!? He has murdered three of our friends. Did he set this up so he could kill us all? No matter, I must put a stop to this. He threw the hook and chain at us and I ducked. It hit Phil and beheaded him. I grabbed the hook and ran at Rio with it. He couldn’t do anything in time before I impaled the hook through his skull. I had ended it all but in the end, ended up with losing everything. I couldn’t go back home with the shame of everyone dying and the guilt of killing Rio, even if it was necessary. That is how I ended up living alone in a run down house that was never visited except once more, when the police came.
