How to reinstall and install morrowind

Windows 98/ME

 

1. Click on Start, Settings, then Control Panel.

2. Double click on Add/Remove Programs.

3. Find Morrowind and double-click on the name to begin uninstalling the

program.

4. Find TES Construction Set and double-click on the name to begin uninstalling

the program.

5. Once the uninstall is complete, close all of the open windows.

6. Click on Start, Programs, and then Windows Explorer and find the folder the

program used to be installed in (The default is

c:\programfiles\bethesdasoftworks\morrowind).

7. Click on the program folder once to highlight it and press the DEL or Delete

key on the keyboard to send the folder to the Recycle Bin.

8. Next, open Windows Explorer again and find the folder C:\Windows\Temp.

9. Once in this folder, Click on View, the Folder Options. Click on the View

tab, then click on Show all files to place a check by it. Click on Apply, then

OK.

10. Click on Edit at the top of the screen, then Select All, then click on File,

then Delete. Answer yes to any of the prompts that appear.

11. Empty the Recycle Bin by double clicking on the Recycle Bin and click on

File and then Empty Recycle Bin.

12. Once this is done, close all open windows.

13. Go to Start, Run, and type in msconfig. Click on Selective Startup and

temporarily uncheck Load Startup Group Items. Click on Okay and Yes to restart.

14. Run a Scandisk. Open My Computer or Windows Explorer. Right-click on the

C: and choose Properties. Click on the Tools tab. Click on Check Now.

15. Once the Scandisk is complete, close all open windows.

16. Put the Morrowind CD 1 into the drive and install the program.

17. Install Tribunal. If you do not have Tribunal, skip this step.

18. Install Bloodmoon. If you do not have Bloodmoon, skip this step.

19. Download the latest patch from

http://www.elderscrolls.com/downloads/upda...tes_patches.htm

NOTE: Do NOT install any patches if you are using the GotY gold edition. The

patches are already provided in this version of the game.

If you are using Morrowind only and do not have the expansions installed, then

get the Morrowind patch. If Morrowind and Tribunal are installed alone, then

install the Tribunal patch ONLY. Do not apply the Morrowind patch. If you have

Morrowind, Tribunal, and Bloodmoon, then install the Bloodmoon patch ONLY. Do

not install the Morrowind or Tribunal patch. If you are using Morrowind and

Bloodmoon alone, then install the Bloodmoon patch ONLY. Do not install the

Morrowind patch.

20. Run the patch from the Morrowind folder.

 

Windows 2000/XP

1. Click on Start then Control Panel.

2. Double click on Add or Remove Programs.

3. Click on Morrowind, then click on the Change/Remove button.

4. Click on the TES Construction Set, then click on the Change/Remove button.

5. Once the uninstall is complete, close all of the open windows.

6. Double click on My Computer and find the folder the program used to be

installed in.

7. Click on the program folder once to highlight it and press the DEL or Delete

key on the keyboard to send the folder to the Recycle Bin.

8. Next, open My Computer again and find the folder C:\Windows\Temp.

9. Once in this folder, Click on Tools, then Folder Options. Click on the View

tab, then click on Show hidden files and folder to place a check by it. Click on

Apply, then OK..

10. Click on Edit at the top of the screen, then Select All, then click on File,

then Delete. Answer yes to any of the prompts that appear.

11. Next, open My Computer again and find the folder C:\Documents and Settings.

12. Double click on the folder named after the login name (e.g. if you're login

is "Bob", then double click the folder named Bob)

13. Double click the Local Settings folder.

14. Double click the Temp folder.

15. Click on Edit at the top of the screen, then Select All, then click on

File, then Delete. Answer Yes to any of the prompts that appear.

16. Once this is done, close all open windows.

17. Empty the Recycle Bin by double clicking on the Recycle Bin and click on

File and then Empty Recycle Bin.

18. Once this is done, close all open windows.

19. Go to Start, Run, and type in msconfig. Click on Selective Startup and

temporarily uncheck Load Startup Group Items. Click on Okay and Yes to restart.

20. Put the Morrowind CD 1 into the drive and install the program.

21. Install Tribunal. If you do not have Tribunal, skip this step.

22. Install Bloodmoon. If you do not have Bloodmoon, skip this step.

23. Download the latest patch from
