PlanetSlayer
Hello. I've been having this problem all of today where I've been unable to select themain menu items from the full-screen main menu. Where 'new game / continue/ load / etc' are located. I have to use Task Manager to get out of it. They are not greyed out and simply do not react to my keystrokes and clicks. To my knowledge my hardware is fully updated. My system specs are:Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Service Pack 1BIOS: Award Modular BIOS v6.00PGProcessor: AMD Phenom™ II X6 1055T Processor (6 CPUs), ~2.8GHzMemory: 8192MB RAMDirectX Version: DirectX 11Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 550 TiSound: Nvidia High Definition Audio My Skyrim is currently fully patched and is version 1.8.51. What I have tried: 1.Systemmatically checking (user made) individual interface (SkyUI, etc) filesfor whether they're the cause2. The sound fix (have tried both 16 and 24bits of 44100hz)3. Verifying game files in steam and defragging with steam4. Deactivating and moving all unofficial mods out of my Data folder5. Renaming the scripts folder.6. Turning my graphics settings down7.Running all Steam and Skyrim related .exes with administrator privileges8. Checking my steam workshop mod subscriptions for user posts describing similarissues9. Running Skyrim using the default launcher instead of SKSE10. Running Skyrim in windowed mode11. Making sure the Gamepad (forbGamepadEnable=) was not enabledinSkyrimprefs.ini (it was not)12. Using vanilla meshes, textures and sounds (I'm grasping at straws trying to fix this)13. Restarting my computer XD Possible Causes: 1. I recently used SMCO (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/13529) on my BSAs, I have since reverted to using my back-ups of official Bethesda BSAs. They're the same version as my game. 2. I recently used Skyrim Configurator to edit my .INI files () (I'm hoping that verifying game files in Steam would have fixed this if this was the cause) 3. If I think of any more I will post my theories. Thankyou PlanetSlayer Edited December 11, 2012 by PlanetSlayer
KHCloud
After our talk over on PlayFire and looking over what you've already done, I might reccomend detling EVERYTHING from your "Steam\steamapps\common\skyrim" folder, with the exception of the official BSA files. Also back up your save(s) and delete the Skyrim folder from My Games in My Documents.Tell Steam to verify the files and it will then redownload all the missing files, this includes the launcher, the main .esm/.esp's. etc. This is as good as a complete install without having to redownload the massive BSA files. FIXED! Thankyou for one of the solutions you posted when we discussed this earlier. Kudos! I didn't even have to delete everything. Big Bonus.
