Tooldealer
Yo, Doing vocal work has been an interest of mine for years, but I've yet to really take it anywhere. That said, I would like to see if anyone is interested in using my voice for their modding projects. My voice is very deep (which has lead to innumerable people saying I sound like Duke Nukem or Christian Bale) and I have a light English accent on account of being Australian. I'm also capable of reaching an unnaturally high pitch. My recording gear right now consists of an MXL 990 Condenser mic with a pop/wind filter and an M-Audio Fast Track II recording interface. In addition, I have a small box lined with sound suppressing foam and sufficient knowledge of audio editing to eliminate any background noises or humming that make it past my preventative measures. All in all, I can produce a similar quality of sound that Bethesda did with their studio. If you'd like to hear my voice, we could arrange to speak on Skype, or Vent, or Mumble, or Teamspeak or whatever the hell you're using. I have them all installed anyway. Malchus
I have a few irons in the fire that could make use of a voice actor. The big question is, how involved are you looking to get with a mod? Do you just want to run off about 50 or so lines of dialogue for a base NPC? Or do you want to work on a bigger project where you voice 1k+ lines in a story driven mod? Perhaps something in between? Knowing this before agreeing to start anything will help everyone out. As far as what I need... record the following lines, they're some basic combat/dialogue etc. I'll give some cues on emotions, those would have course come easier if you had full details on the character. Name the files the same as the titles. Do a noise reduction and a normalization pass and upload them to a sharing site of your choosing, then paste a link. I know you mentioned a VOIP program, but I really want to hear what you can produce on your own. Then I can drop it straight in game and see how it works. 1.CC_NotEven(In combat shout, slightly mocking.)Not even difficult! 2.CC_LetsSee(In combat shout, determined maybe? has the feel of an experienced duelist fighting someone perhaps on par with them.)Let's see what you're made of! 3.D_StupidPotion(Player has asked the character a particularly dumb or insulting question. The NPC is indignant.)What?! Did you drink a fortify Stupid potion? 4.DG_Taller(NPC is meeting the player and is trying to put the player off guard by NOT being impressed by him.)So.... You're the Dragonborn? <break> I thought you'd be taller. 6.D_STOP(None Needed)STOP RIGHT THERE CRIMINAL SCUM! I know that's far from being a complete set, but I tried to pick some very short snippets. Try it out, and if there's anything else you are particularly proud of, feel free to upload it and share it. Thanks for being willing to try this. -Malchus
Tooldealer
My involvement? I have no particular preference. I would enjoy some lengthy, story-driven dialogue for a persistent character. I doubt I will ever get better or more adjusted to this sort of stuff by doing three lines and moving on; I'd certainly feel more satisfied about finishing a long project than a short one. It should be noted that I have Pathological Apathy IRL. Emotions don't come to me easily, if at all. Learning to at least simulate emotions would help to cover my ass for future voice work. The small projects I did in the past are, unfortunately, gone. I'm not sure I would provide them as examples anyway. One was a ringtone for a friend that was nothing but epithets and insults to his friends. Needless to say, he'd have someone call his phone while in their company. This is the reason I suggested VoIP, but your method is suitable. I'll take care of it. Thanks for the opportunity. MootsMods
Hehe thanks for the entertainment Tooldealer! Those were actually pretty fantastic :) You've got talent my friend. So, what's the status of your voice acting? Did you get the gig??
Malchus
Thanks very much for taking the time to record this. I can really understand how embarrassing it feels distributing your own voice like this. I'm gearing up for the Hobbit release currently. Gonna be a kinda crazy party here. I'll listen to what you have and work it into an NPC on Saturday. I really try to hold off judgement until I hear things in-game. -Malchus
Tooldealer
I appreciate the feedback. If by "gig" you mean the aforemention project or, for that manner, any project; no, I'm not tied down to anything yet. It is indeed embarassing at first, even though countless thousands of people have heard me say shameless, stupid s*** for almost a decade online. Deadman87
Very impressed with your voice acting, and I love the accent! I'm finishing a smallish/ medium sized dungeon in Skyrim, and would really benefit from having a main villain that could speak some lines. It wouldn't be a long conversation, just the general "what are you doing here" and a couple of other lines if you are interested. I'll check back to see if you can :)
Sucrilhus
Woah... you are REALLY good! Sounds evilsh or maybe a "work-alone and by his own controversial methods" kind of hero.... I'm not a modder or anything... I just wanted to congratulate. Good luck!
