Fallout3 Crashes at start up consistently

I can view the first 2 frames. I get sound and they move just like their supposed to. However, once I get to NEW, and select it, the little spinning load clock appears at the bottom. Soon after it starts spinning, the screen goes black and i get kicked out of the program.

 

I am also getting the weird patch issue that the patch seems to freeze and the game menu starts up.

 

I have reloaded the game multiple times. Tried it with and without patching.

 

my specs: Windows 64 Ultimate OS, Intel Quad core cpu, Nvidia gtx 260 video, 8gb ram.

 

This machine is new and built by me. I can play The Witcher, Far Cry 2 and Mass Effect flawlessly.

I have done the ffdshow thing that was suggested.

 

I lowered the graphics quality.

 

Any and all advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cant help you with this, but you should be possible play on highest settings with this system.

Your videocard has 896 MB, wenn i'm correct.

 

Reïnstall F3 maybe helps?

Try playing in compatibility mode.Do you have uac turned on?Is the game installed to program files?

UAC is User Account Control.I've seen so many having problems with Vista that i assumed that your os was Vista.Vista doesn't like changes to program file apps.My os is Vista 32bit and i had to turn off UAC to edit my Archiveinvalidation file lol.Also i've read about others having problems with 64bit windows.That's why i suggested compatibility mode.Don't know if it would make any difference but would be worth a try.
