Strange face transfer results

Hey I have an end-game save with my favorite character on it and I want to move her face onto a new character.

 

I've been told there are two ways of "transferring" faces between characters:

1) write down the sliders on the showracemenu screen and then recopy them when recreating your new character

2) use the face transfer python tool as seen on the nexus and copy the old face to the new one via save files

 

I've tried both of these and have had failures with each one.

 

With regards to the #1 method I copied my still-working save sliders with all of the proper mods still active on skyrim to my new character. The results looked nothing like my previous character, which left me extremely confused. I used the same race, gender and mods on each of the characters but this character looks sort of the same but not exactly the same as the old one. And yes I've checked the sliders numerous times and they are correct.

 

#2 had even worse results: I downloaded python portable and the face transfer tool, ran the transfer tool, copied the old face(on a breton female) to my new breton female, loaded the game and finally the new save which crashed shortly after the loading screen appeared.

 

Does anyone know how to do this correctly? I REALLY want to use my old character's face again.
