uberoter
Evening all. Ive been trying out the 2287 nuclear winter mod and its brilliant. Ive been running NAC along with winter redone to create the winter landscape. Absolutely love the winter feelling these provide , simply sublime. Recently I downloaded and installed the texture optimization project mod and its also brilliant as the game runs smoother than I ever can remember. Only issue is that the snow disappears. Not completely though , there is snow in the distance but as I approach it melts away. Tried re-installing a couple of things but same result. Tried different winter landscapes with the same result. A little winter left in the distance but it melts around me as I walk through the wasteland. Any way to keep the best of both worlds here? Any way to fix it so I can bring the winter back? I fear I might have made a boo boo without backing up the game but it runs super smooth now so its a mistake I can live with. Many thanks in advance. robotized
Did you follow the installation instructions for Texture Optimization Project, about packing the textures into the BA2 archives?
uberoter
A bit unsure about that. I installed it via the nexus mod installer and I got a question about replacing and /or keeping certain files since some of these was already installed by 2287 nuclear winter. I answered "yes to all" (habit from gpl) and that was probably not the smartest thing I did. So The texture opt probably replaced some files in 2287NW. Cant uninstall the texture optimal project thing either since it doesnt show up in the mods list. Or I wouldnt know how to do that. A bit ironic as the game runs better and smoother than ever with the text opt pro.
robotized
Texture Optimization Project(TOP) contains only loose files. They are meant to replace the vanilla textures inside the game's BA2 archives(after backing those up). If it overwrote something, then you installed TOP as loose files. Overwriting the files is probably the cause that made the snow disappear.Ok, TOP has manual download only. This means that you downloaded the mod and dropped its archive in your mods' folder. The name of the archive is All Bugs fixed TOP 0.19 with all DLC-978-0-19Final.7z.. Try and search for that, check in the Unassigned mod category of NMM. If you manage to uninstall it through the manager, all textures that it overwrote should be restored. And another thing. TOP's loose files could also be messing with the other texture mod. Winter Redone has all files packed in BA2 archive. Loose files always have a priority over BA2 archives.
uberoter
Thank you good man , this is very helpful and educational. Learning the hard way here , I should know better than just to jump in and mess things up without knowing and then educating myself to fix it but I guess I just did that again. Ive tried 3 different winter textures with the same result so that would indicate a file that overwrites these texture files. Now that I have a little to go on Im gonna see if it cant be fixed , or should I say brought back cause the game works pr say. Thanks again.
