okay i have modded oblivion a little bit and some of those worked but when i go to mod fallout 3 only 1 of 5 worked so far. tell me if I'm doing something wrong. I download the mod and then using WINRAR unrar it to the fallout 3 data folder. then i go into the archive invalidation file and edit it to what it tells me to[does it matter where you add it into the archive invalidation text]. then i play the game and nothing changed. what did i do wrong?

Can you name one of the mods are you having a problem with? If we can fix one we hopefully should be able to fix the rest :)

well its every mod that im having trouble with. maybe i just dont know exactly how to do it. but heres one im trying now, Amata Pipboy Retexture. when you do the archive invalidation where you have to edit it to what they give you, does it matter where you edit it in the file or can you just pick a spot and add the lines of texts.

It shouldn't matter where you put the lines in the archiveinvalidation.txt Just make sure that this is in your main Fallout 3 directory and not your Data one.

Remember not to overwrite or replace the archiveinvalidation.txt file if you add other textures but to copy and paste the new texture links into your existing file.

One other thing. Have you edited your Fallout.ini from bInvalidateOlderFiles=0 to bInvalidateOlderFiles=1

Although I'm not 100% sure, this could make a difference. It's best to do it anyway.

Your Fallout.ini is found at \My Documents\My Games\Fallout3

Download Fallout mod manager (click HERE)and delete your archiveinvalidation - it is not recommended to use this. Make sure you are moving the mods and esps to your data folder in \Program Files\Bethesda Softworks\Fallout 3\Data

After that always use FOMM (fallout mod manager) to start the game. Upon using FOMM make sure you check the mods you want to use. Also make sure you do as smosh says and open up your fallout.ini in your \My Documents\My Games\Fallout3 and change the values bInvalidateOlderFiles=0 to bInvalidateOlderFiles=1. The file looks like a systemworks file and you should open it with notepad and save upon changing those files.

okay most of the time i get mods that use esp files to work, but if they are textures they don't work, so will the fallout 3 mod manager help me or does it only help with esp files? it seems to be texture mods that i have a problem with[such as the Amata pip-boy retexture and any others that have textures.

I got a question (rather ask it here then make a new topic.)

The mod i need help with is:

Better Arsenal Desert Eagles V5

http://www.fallout3nexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=548

It says "second step: change the value "bInvalidateOldFiles" from 0 to 1 in both Fallout.ini and FalloutPrefs.ini

in your appdata or my documents\my games\fallout 3 folder."

Ok i cant find the bInvalidateOldFiles for FalloutPrefs.ini were is it at and i updated the game to Fallout3 1_0_0_15 and still cant find it?!

Dose anyone know if there is even a bInvalidateOldFiles in FalloutPrefs.ini ????

Note:I have changed bInvalidateOldFiles from 0 to 1 in Fallout.ini did it manualy and used FOMM to.
