Train for power armour?

It's a habit I intend to keep. Habits keep the mistakes away.

At any rate, why would the Outcasts recruit/train you? They stick to the old teachings, which certainly didn't involve recruiting any Wastelander that happened to drop off some neat items. Besides which, if they train you to use Power Armor, they have to give you a suit, because the only other way for you to get it would be to kill one of their existing members (which you've probably done anyway, but it's the principle of the thing).

Well, there's usually a suit of Outcast power armor in

Old Earney (sp?) on a corpse, as well as the Experimental Power Armor in the sewers below.

Also, if you bring them enough "junk" they do become friendly and as the Outcasts do need to increase their numbers, recruiting from the locals makes sense. The locals are the only source of additional manpower other than the West Coast BOS sending new troops over. The Outcasts merely have issues with helping the locals over their holy their mandate of technology collection and preservation. The Scourging is remembered fondly, or whatever the saving of the children (with heavy firepower) was called.

 

That's my read based on dialogue and what in-game information there is. That's why they should offer training, but only after you've showed real dedication to their cause. I'd think that turning in

the BOS holotags

should be enough proof of your dedication.

I would keep on using them too if I were you, mate. I'm going to do the same. As you said, it helps avoid mistakes but also, I feel that just because someone is in the spoiler forum looking for one piece of information it doesn't necessarily mean they'd want to read everything that comes out of it.

I have escaped project purity and got into the BOS base but they wont give me PA training. I have spoken to Lyons and exhausted all options and nothing came up about power armour training. I cant wear it and have no perk for it, and the game wont let me train for it. Any ideas other than using the console commands ?

Wait, did you talk to Sentinel Lyons or Elder Lyons. You have to talk to the Elder, then Paladin Gunny to recieve the perk.

 

Edit: I'm also pretty sure you have to talk to Gunny, then have him send you to the Elder, then talk to the Elder.

Yes spoken to all named NPC's in there and nothing about training in power armour.
