Greetings,

I've been messing around a bit with the Meddler mod and been trying to get it to patch over my original exe file. Steam is in offline mode as required and everything worked fine except when I try to start-up the game it crashes right away. I've tested it with the original exe file and it runs fine with that so the problem must be with the altered defaultgamecore.mod.

Any suggestions as to what I should do?

Thanks in advance,

If there's a file called "xcom-orginal.exe", you need to remove it. Then try running the Modpatcher again.

How about manual changes, without Meddler? Copy unmodified DefaultGameCore.ini from Config to Binaries/Win32, rename it to *.mod, do changes, run Modpatcher, try running the game.

Done, still crashes. Steam is in offline mode, I'm using the latest patcher and I'm removing the original game thingy... even though it doesn't work with or without it in.

edit: Got it working finally... although I don't know what I actually did to fix it but... it's working at least. Thanks for the help gents.

Great!

My bet goes to ini modified by Meddler. When you deleted "xcom-orginal.exe" and ran Modpacther on manually modified ini, the exe got fixed.

Maybe you could try Meddler again and let its author know, if it generates any problem, so he can fix it.

Meddler only creates a .mod file. It doesn't actually install it. Well, last time I used it at least.

Aye, but it's possible it saves corrupted ini. I will try myself, but the last time I used Meddler, it didn't work. Notepad++ works everytime.
