Kinlar
Hi there, Been using a follower mod of my own that adds several generic followers to the game. Recently added a few new relationships between these followers. For example, I made two of them sisters as well as allies of each other and three of them have become "friends" with each other etc. I notice that if one of the "friends" die and the others around see her/his corpse lying on the ground, they fall into a great depression, which is of course just the thing I wanted to achieve. Sometimes however, they panic and run away, hide themselves under a rock etc. in that situation which is definitely not a good thing for me and I'm worried that they would do the same in the middle of a fight. :) How would you set these sorts of relationships between followers you create for the purpose of making them more "real"? Oubliette
I would suggest downloading and studying more complex companions structures (Vilja, Atvir Dres to name 2 off the top of my head) both are structured to notice and comment on the players actions as well as what companions they have and in some cases interact with each other as well (I'm sure Atvir and Vilja do this, though the lions share of that interaction might not yet be implemented on Atvir's side yet). Picking apart these companions in order to learn how they do things is generally the first step towards making more in depth companions. You can also track down members of the Vilja, Atvir or whatever followers team and ask them directly how they did this or that - just be polite, patient and make sure you've researched enough before hand to ask informed and useful questions. Informed questions (like: "I've looked over your clothing change script and noticed you've managed to incorporate different outfits for various tasks, sleeping, riding, fighting, as well as times of day, morning, night, and location, dungeon, city; however when I attempt to implement this script my follower doesn't change clothes/causes ctd's/goes invisible") are always more likely to be answered fully than very general questions about a very complicated and large topic (like: "How do I set up my followers so they interact together in an immersive and yet not intrusive way"). Good luck with your project and if you stick with it and truly create some companions who interact well together - I look forward to seeing them, because that kind of awesomeness really should be shared  Edited December 14, 2012 by Oubliette
