Following this guide here for my other mods, Boss seems to like me following it for all the non-bethesda mods. http://www.creationkit.com/index.php?title=TES5Edit_Cleaning_Guide_-_TES5Edit

but, although I have backed up the main base game files.. im still terrified of cleaning them, is there anything at all I should know before applying this cleaning method?

Yes, their ITMs are unlikely to cause problems but DG and HF also contain deleted references (UDRs) which can wreak havoc on a modded game. It's still best to remove the ITMs as they're just unnecessary information your game has to trudge through.

The only thing you need to know is right on the TES5Edit description page and that's: "With each new version of TES5Edit our cleaning routines become more accurate. Because of this it's very important to restore the original Bethesda master files and the originals of the plugins you use and reclean them."

Apply cleaning filter > Remove ITMs > Undelete and Disable References.

If you're following those steps, they're covered.

Yup, I think I followed it all properly, BOSS is now no longer saying I have dirty edits or in general anything wrong so sounds like its almost all good to go, just tryin to figure out why the Bash patch I made hasnt made the "reccomended tags" thing go away... but thats another mission for another time, gonna now test my game.

BOSS can detect whether or not you've cleaned a mod through CRCs (hashes). It can't detect every possible combination of Bashed Patch though so those suggestions won't disappear. If you know you made your Bashed Patch right (it's pretty hard to mess up in the current state of Wrye Bash, it automatically applies the suggested tags and everything so :whistling: ) don't worry about the messages in Boss. Keep in mind that you should remake your Bashed Patch any time your load order changes. Edited by MShoap13

yep I remade it just now.

I just loaded up a new game and it loaded really fast.. and I mean FAST, normally I have a 1 or 2 minute wait before the main menu shows up but DAMN it was quick. then I clicked new game and so far its smooth sailing.

I have all the orignal beth files backed up so if I do run into an issue with em it should be easily fixed too.
