Lock with Music playing Solved for me

Long and short.

 

I crashed after about an hours worth of time logged and on my first out side mission.

It would just lock. I could Crt Alt Del and then end it but it was a blind end meaning I couldn't even see the task manager.

I updated all my drivers, I patch Fallput, I played hi res, and extremely low res.

 

After trying to trouble shoot it with Task manager and SecurRom telling me I can't have it open and launch the game. Shock, maybe I will see the extra processes running (I just used Process Explorer from Sys tools to see them) I started to think maybe the security is causing issues.

Then there was no event logged during these crashes so I knew something funny was happening. It should have logged a video, or ram or some other error but it wasn't. And the music would just keep playing on and on, with out even getting stuck in a loop.

 

So I downloaded a No DVD patch as a last resort (you can find it if you look) and have played it for hours with no real issues.

With out the noDVD executible it it locks with in 30 seconds in the mission to rescue the kids family from the fireants in his home.

 

In my unexpert opinion I believe it has to be something with the securom

 

WHY is the security causing me hassles I ask? I bought the freaken game, leave me alone.

But that is what fixed it for me.

 

It wasn't drivers, Direct X, Damon tools, Xp 64, patches or wearing red slippers and wishing good things or any of other crap we are all trying.

 

It was circumventing the Securom and it plays fine.

 

So I hope this helps some of the many people that have it on PC and are having all the RANDOM CRAP happen.

 

This sort of copy protection only hurts those of us that purchase the game.

 

I hope this post is not against the rules because this really is the solution for me and it was a hard sought after solution that might help other legit PC users.
